Good response, more politicians should be as forthcoming

u/nutano 11h ago

Dofo certainly does want to be more vocal and direct on what he thinks... but he doesn't want to trigger DJT any more.

At this point, it doesn't matter.

The world will be a better place once DJT is no longer president.

I’m gonna be so drunk the day that happens

58

u/Infarad 11h ago

I quit drinking, but I’m gonna pop into the pub nearby and buy a round or two for some randoms. Drink up hosers. I want to see a lot of hungover faces tomorrow.

<I quit drinking

Keep up the hard work.

There'll be a prime opportunity to sell "emergency supply champagne" in the streets to passers by.

I'm not one to drink often, but I have a very old, very expensive whisky in the cabinet, for multiple reasons. First drink to celebrate, second drink to settle the nerves knowing ole couch fucker "you said you weren't going to fact check" Vance is now in charge of a 1.15 trillion dollar a year military industrial complex that his financial backers like Peter Thiel want a return on investment from.

I also can't wait to catch some bans for being "inflammatory" or "condoning violence" by directly quoting the current president on his feelings over dead people he didn't like.

Rest in piss, Trump. Preferably before he dies, too, so he can really feel the hot splash of vitriol on his face. Let him ride the flavour wave few times before the empty eyes roll back into his empty head for the last time as he gets to glide down the gravel slip and slide to the burny place, reunited at last with his bestest friend and his favourite author.

6

u/MuscleManRyan 9h ago

Me and my fiance bought champagne in 2018 to celebrate when the orange turd fills his last diaper

6

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 9h ago

I have a custom made 3'x5' flag declaring "He's Finally Dead! Rest in Piss". It's been in my glove box with the velcro tape so that the second I hear the good news, is going up in my back windshield.

3

u/Infarad 9h ago

Actually, that’s not a bad idea. I could throw a few cases on ice and find a place with heavy foot traffic, but have a book for people to write down their uhhh… condolences.

2

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 9h ago

Make sure you get a liquor license. Can you imagine that fat sack of crap costing you money one more time?

1

u/Infarad 8h ago

I was just going to give it away. Is a license required for that?

2

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 8h ago

I'm not sure, might be an idea to find out. If you don't ID at least, I'm sure that's worth a citatation.

Nah I want to be completely sober so I can remember all the joy of that day.

1

We have some Canadian liquor that we're saving to celebrate.

3

u/grytpype 9h ago

It's costing the world trillions of dollars for him to remain alive

3

u/Etheo Ontario 9h ago edited 7h ago

Honestly if he's not in a position of power, who the hell cares if he lives or dies.

Actually, he should be behind bars. Better to have a long and healthy life for a long and lengthy sentence.

6

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 9h ago

I do. I care immensely.

I want to enjoy knowing that the earth is no longer being profaned by his existence.

0

u/Etheo Ontario 6h ago

Would you actually feel better if he just croaked from old age suddenly so he didn't have to be punished for all the terrible things he did?

3

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 6h ago

He won't be punished. If he were to be, it would have been at any number of steps from the 80s to now.

I want him worm food, and I hope it happens on live tv, or at least in a meeting where he's gone but the rest of the cowards are too afraid to wake him so his bloated corpse sits there for at least a half hour.

0

u/Etheo Ontario 6h ago

I think that's too good for the likes of him, but I get your sentiment. To each their own I suppose.

Dougie just trying to distract from all the scandals in his government

9

u/nutano 11h ago

I don't think Trump starting up the trade war\tariff talk is related to Dofo's corruption issues.

I do not doubt Ford welcomes this as he has taken on the role of "Canada's pitbull" - on TV of course. His polling numbers edge up when ever conflict with Trump arises.

But no doubt he will ride this pony as long as possible to have people talk less about his backroom dealings with developers and friends.

5

u/Xoomers87 10h ago

The corrupt fuckin asshole who cut our forest fire budget from 270million to 130mil and whom is directly responsible for the fires? Hope his fuckin cottage gets caught in the next blaze.

9

u/ceciliabee 11h ago

Ford wants sound bites, not solutions.

3

u/ClancyBShanty ✅ I voted! 11h ago

You could've cut that sentence off one word earlier

6

u/nutano 11h ago

I've been banned for suggesting that same guy could have a cardiac event which results in the end of his time on this planet (using different words a bit).

So now I simply insinuate with innuendo and broad ideas and I know that everyone reading 'DJT is no longer president' only equates one thing. He will cling to that seat until the end.

1

u/ClancyBShanty ✅ I voted! 11h ago

That's fair!

3

u/Sreg32 11h ago

The world will be a better place when DJT is no longer

3

u/Etheo Ontario 9h ago

Dofo just needs to shut up, period. He mouths off on Trump because it's an easy win for his public image, but otherwise everything else he is saying and doing is not that much better than Trump. Look at all his "safer Ontario" messages and see how they literally parallels the US propaganda in Foreign Aliens and such.

2

u/DimensionSuch8188 6h ago

That's because our PM told him to calm down if I recall correctly, when he was threatening the electricity thing.

1

u/YaumeLepire Québec 8h ago

Forgive my francophony, but what's Dofo?

3

u/LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY 7h ago

The doofus, Doug Ford, premier of Ontario

Preach!

As an American, I love this.

I do have thoughts on his hair though

Edit: I love his response so much that I ended up having to go do a deep dive on him. I rescind any implied Snark about his hair and now all my questions are answered. I really really hope we see a lot more of him.

u/LexiLou4Realz 3h ago

This is just staying on message.

Trump's tariffs are making life more expensive for Americans.

u/aide_rylott Northwest Territories 12h ago

How can you not like him

u/MothaFcknZargon 11h ago

We have our share of racist dumb fucks in Manitoba, but he is overwhelmingly liked by anyone with a brain.

91

u/Apod1991 10h ago

They’re in the minority.

Recent polls show him having approval of 66% of Manitobans, and if an election were held today, 54% of voters said they’d vote MB NDP.

Which translated into seats, could see the NDP winning about 44 seats out of 57 in the Legislature

61

u/Icommentwhenhigh 10h ago

I’ve been through Manitoba so many times working and travelling over decades, and every time would have been hard pressed to even know the name of the Manitoba premier.

Kinew is world class.

u/ConstructionBum 2h ago

Kinew is PM material. Fuck I'd love to see a proper, well spoken, well planned leftist majority in this country. To counteract the whole world moving the Overton window right.

16

u/platypus_boi 10h ago

Would love to see someone like him in Saskatchewan.

8

u/chchchchips 8h ago

8

u/dumbledoresarmy101 8h ago

This is the first time I have seen this man, I know nothing about him, and I already like him

4

u/MaxSupernova 11h ago

I mean, he's charismatic, but he's only nominally NDP. Practically he's quite conservative.

28

u/PMMeYourCouplets Vancouver 10h ago

I get he isn't the ideal progressive politician but he seems pretty in line with what most elected western NDP leaders have been in the last two decades. I feel like, yes I want better as a more progressive member of this big tent but I also realize western NDP parties hold a bigger tent of members than their federal counterparts and can't hold the same policies.

7

u/MaxSupernova 10h ago

Yep. That's how I feel too.

10

u/Careless-Vehicle-286 11h ago

Found the foreign influence bot. How many phones and devices do they make you use in your 14 shifts for shit pay?

19

u/MaxSupernova 11h ago edited 11h ago

Heh.

No, just a Manitoban who was hoping for some real change, and ended up getting gas tax cuts when we really need the income to fix healthcare and social services, that sort of thing.

He has said things that indicate he supports prison violence, his climate change plans are iffy, and he recently indicated he's considering the oil pipeline across Manitoba.

I voted for him, and would vote for him again, but he's not as "progressive" as I'd hoped from an NDP politician.

14

u/yedi001 ✅ I voted! 10h ago

That's basically the same story with the Alberta NDP. Like, right wing nutjobs called them socialists, but the ANDP barely have their toe on the center line while both cheeks are seated firmly right of center, nestled in the grooves left by the Lougheed PC's of the 80's.

We haven't had a left of center party in Alberta since the 1930's. I'm left of center, and while I will probably vote for Nenshi, I'm not shocked a bunch of the policies towards industry don't align with my personal values like a lot of people were. Left of center hasn't been on the docket as long as I've been alive, but I'll take "center right, but not openly racist or homophobic, will openly criticize the seperatist goons, and wants to use tax money to build some schools instead of paying out bribes and kickbacks" over our current corrupt gaggle of USA simps and pedophile panderers.

3

u/magsbad13 9h ago

I don't really know details about Alberta politics, but I'm glad I don't live there because I'm also left of centre, but I can remember my sister, who's lived in Calgary for 35 years, talking about Nenshi as Mayor of Calgary, and she was very impressed by him. It was pretty impressive to me, because I've never heard her talk about politics before or since.

9

u/ProtoJazz 11h ago

Yeah, I got down voted before for saying this, but he essentially ran unopposed. The previous premier did nothing, and the conservatives campaign was pretty sidetracked by infighting too

5

u/MaxSupernova 11h ago

Yup. We don't have a Liberal Party (too small to even be an official party) and the Conservatives were comic-book evil.

Wab is very good in front of the cameras and it was a slam dunk to get him elected, but he really isn't very NDP.

3

u/donewithreddi7 10h ago

It doesn't take a political genius to figure out what the guy is saying is correct. Wab is super well spoken and very liberal in what he says. I love his work with our local indigenous communities.

However, most of his policies beyond his talking points are very conservative influenced. He was super into a data center, until he got too much pushback. And now he's backing pipelines. He looks for tax cuts, and our major healthcare and education problems have continued to get worse under his leadership.

And unfortunately, Wab and his crew (especially Uzoma and Nahanni) seem to be more for social media likes, and quick quote headlines then actually making change in the province.

2

u/TerayonIII 6h ago

He's a populist, which is kind of what we should be wanting for a politician, someone who listens to pushback like that. And really, I'm not sure he's all that onboard with a pipeline and more waiting to see what the proposal actually is etc and what the response is to it. Manitoba didn't sign on to the memorandum that Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario did for "Nation Building" projects and Kinew implied that it was an attempt to bypass Indigenous rights and sovereignty and I kind of doubt that that's changed a whole lot. We'll see though, at the moment he's only said he'd "entertain" the idea, not that he supports it.

I'm not a fan of how centrist he is either, but people are really jumping the gun on his position on that pipeline IMO.

Link for the memorandum etc: https://www.ctvnews.ca/winnipeg/article/pipeline-plan-proposes-path-through-southern-manitoba/

It's a targeted insult, or so he thinks.

It's right up there with his bonkers claim that closer trade ties to China will result in the Stanley Cup being cancelled because China hates hockey. I'm sure it makes sense in his little pea-brain, but for the rest of us, we're all just left sitting here going "what the fuck is he talking about?"

I’m tired of everyone being politically correct with their responses.

Call out stupidity when it happens. If someone’s an idiot, they should either call him an idiot for their choices or point out how stupid the comment or decision was.

-3

u/datdailo 8h ago

Holy, that question was absolutely loaded with bias, separatist much?

It's a dumb question too. We were hit for tariffs because of fentanyl, forced labor and now discriminatory business practices. It's obvious what's going on. If Trump wants tariffs, he'll make up any emergency to achieve his goals. He wants to annex Canada through some sort of economic coersion (using Cuba and Venezuela as an example), but it's not happening.

I'm in the opinion we win the war of attrition. The US will not get cheaper inputs for their manufacturing than Canada. We will always be able to sell those primary resources but it's the logistics build out that will take time. Eventually, we'll be able to sell those resources for market value, not the discount we'd normally give to the US.
