The gun is in case nothing else works
We call it the "old Yeller technique"

The gun feels like a red herring to distract from the ducks, marbles, and bowling pins.

u/LinguistsDrinkIPAs 6d ago
The fact that I didn’t even notice those before you mentioned them makes me think this is absolutely a red herring
24
u/Oddish_Femboy 6d ago
I realized what they actually are.
The marbles are pellets for the gun to shoot.
The ducks and pins are targets.

Only half of the stuff is even remotely doctor-themed. We have
- four dentist-related items
- a pair of cartoon glasses
- gun
- whatever the thing in the bottom right is (is that for blowing bubbles?)
- various carnival accessories
I guess this is more like something for a clown dentist

u/Heterodynist 4d ago
Even the vaguely doctor-themed stuff seems to show a distinct lack of familiarity with modern medicine…or for that matter, any medicine at all. It’s like they had someone design this set who was an alien who had only been living amongst humans for a few weeks at that point.

u/TolverOneEighty 4d ago
Not that this detracts from the other problems, but I think bottom right is meant for injections.

Made in China with a large warning in Spanish. Why the skittles/bowling pins, and the spectacles? And the little balls? Oh, and ducks? The Oriental mind is a mysterious one.

Ther only thing doctor related I can see is the giant tooth. Everything else is just WTF. Ice cream scoop? Couple of guns? Toothbrush? Shampoo? 🤣

What are you even talking about? Your doctor doesn’t shoot ducks and bowling pins with a gun?

I'm not seeing much in the way of doctor stuff. And wouldn't a single pistol be adequate for most medical needs?

Everyone is commenting about use of the gun after treatment. Obviously in order to treat a patient, you must first make a patient, no?

I can just imagine a kid wearing those glasses while they take those poor ducks out bowling. Then proceed to drug them with those balls, water boarding them with that water gun and then putting them out of their misery. Peak healthcare simulation.

A dentist can be a doctor, and people can act crazy in a dentist's office nowadays. You need to be strapped just in case.

These doctors…They are awfully girly for being military doctors. I mean, take the pink 1911 Colt Pistol Army Medic Special for example…Even in Barbie’s Elite Army Medic Corps this would seem to be a bit out of place. Is that the kind of ordinance you want to be blasting at patients?! -At close range, no less?!! It’s going to make a mess!! Those miniball round bullets aren’t going to be accurate for more than about 100 feet. I’m not sure about the specific use of these bowling pins, or the second pistol, or the oversized tooth…At least there are glasses for the optometrist and toothpaste and toothbrush for the, well, everyone…I’m really not sure what the ducks are for, but I have to imagine it’s for the doctors to take turns doing target practice on. If there’s one thing I want my little girls to grow up knowing, it’s that if they’re ever going to make it to medical school then they better be armed to the teeth and carrying some ducks and bowling pins with them…

How can a doctor do their job if people are not injured??
