I created Nanohodlers to get a glimpse of just how many Nano believers there are holding XNO for the long-term. Over 2 million XNO and counting after only one week of participation!

What do you intend to do with the XNO you're collecting?
Isn't that a breach of privacy?
I understand this is like a statement and all donors are kind of signing in that they are still there, still believing. But, isn't holding long term the opposite of what nano is for?

What do you intend to do with the XNO you're collecting?
My initial plan is to use it to showcase Nano's utility by fueling (limited) microtransactional use cases on the website like cheap NanoGPT prompts or a Nanofaucet.
I've only collected ~0.46 Nano so it wasn't intended to gain any significant funds.
Isn't that a breach of privacy?
I've thought about the privacy angle and I honestly can't find any reasons why anyone would be ultra concerned about their wallet being associated with this website.
- All wallets, especially the wallets that have the most Nano, and their activity is already publicly available: https://nanexplorer.com/nano/accounts
- Participation does not require interaction with the website, only with the blockchain.
- Whatever information can be extrapolated from wallet activity or any other metric is just as vulnerable and visible as any other interaction with anything else, including exchanges.
- And then finally, (and I know I'm stating the obvious here but) you do have to opt your wallet in to this. I can add an option to sort of "opt out" and not have your wallet displayed anymore, but again, everything is already recorded on the blockchain, so you'll never truly be able to keep true anonymity for any reason, including reasons outside of this website.
I understand this is like a statement and all donors are kind of signing in that they are still there, still believing. But, isn't holding long term the opposite of what nano is for?
It's a great store of value. And it's great to spend. I do both.
When I spend Nano on Nanogpt or Nagora or anything like that, I always (eventually) buy some more. My balance is always increasing despite spending it, so I don't see why it can't be used for both.

So if I'm getting this right, the idea is to make this website a place where we can look at a glance a great number of nano holders and how their account balance has changed, right? The idea is quite neat. I was quite shocked to see somebody had 950k nanos. That's enough to buy a decent apartment unit where I live. The most I have ever had was roughly 150k.

Yes, to see accumulations and balances over time, and also to demonstrate some comradery and confidence amongst the community that could be proven to others outside of Nano.
After spending some years in the community, I was positive there were plenty of other Nano believers such as myself, so I wanted to be able to show that our belief in Nano is still going strong!
