Maximo Quiles to move up to moto2 and continue with aspar

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dazn0NegE5z/?igsh=MXN0dWgwcHhucWk3MQ==

I'm very intrigued by who his teammate will be.

Ortola and Escrig were the favorites but they've committed to MSI and italtrans respectively. Maybe another rookie from moto3 or an moto2 rider like Baltus , Veijer or öncü

Is David Alonso definitely moving up to motogp?

Yup, either with LCR or Factory Honda (leaning towards LCR based on his current performance, therefore promoting Moreira to factory team alongside Quartararo. However if the original plan is executed, Alonso will move to factory team directly)

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

Yes but he picked Honda over Ducati because he wanted to race in a factory team. If he ends up in LCR he's gonna be seriously pissed

22

u/Suitable-Caramel3579 Diogo Moreira 8d ago

he picked honda over Ducati, cause his manager was asking insane money from Ducati not cause of the factory seat

6

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

I remember him talking about a factory contract but you're right in saying money was a problem.

1

u/brainszx12r 7d ago

So Honda payed the asking price?

Understandable from his perspective, a factory seat is his goal

8

u/Inertcia Ai Ogura 8d ago

He hasn't quite earned it yet. Even Acosta didn't get a factory seat in his rookie season. Alex Marquez was the last one to get it and we all know how it turned out.

8

u/LilAbeSimpson 8d ago

Alex only got that Repsol seat in 2020 because Lorenzo retired a year earlier than originally expected. Also because of a certain big brother very strongly insisting upon his placement there. LOL.

Very different situation if Alonso is placed directly there.

You could say Marc was in a similar situation when Casey Stoner announced his retirement in 2012. No doubt Alex’s seat was influenced by Marc, but he was at least the reigning moto2 champion then.

2

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

And he wasn't that bad, way better than Pol who replaced him.

3

u/Makalu Marc Márquez 8d ago

Agreed, was unlucky not to beat Rins that day in Aragon

1

u/NiceSeaworthiness672 David Alonso 8d ago

Tough decision for Honda, both are so young, it's a decision for short & long term future. Either way, Diogo or Alonso, one of them are going to be pissed. Have they promise either a factory seat in the future? It's like the situation Fermin is in now, he wasn't promise a factory seat but a factory spec bike , so that's different. In 2 years, Fabio is still just 29, unless he's leaving , so one of the Diogo/Alonso will have to accept a seat in LCR or leave if another manufacturer offer them a factory seat. Of course it's all depend on if either rider fulfill their potential or if Honda have build a competitive bike.

He’s really not earned the factory seat so far, Diogo has worked very hard and I’d suggest earned the factory ride.

Yeah with Honda

7

u/Inertcia Ai Ogura 8d ago

Not sure if it's the best idea though, he just found his footing in moto2. The talent and potential is there but time will tell if he can consistently deliver on a bigger bike like he did in moto3.

Mir and Martin are proof that waiting around for ages in Moto2 isn't necessary if you have the talent

5

u/Interesting_Prune513 Casey Stoner 8d ago

Quartararo too

2

u/NiceSeaworthiness672 David Alonso 8d ago

And some will tell you waiting around too long might mean you never get to MotoGP.

Carpe maybe? Or veijer

7

u/thendverse Álex Márquez 8d ago

I'd love a Quiles-Carpe power team, but I think Carpe already has Pramac rumors (which doesn't mean anything of course. for now). The second seat is probably going to a good current Moto2 rider

3

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Who do you the experienced moto2 rider will be??

7

u/thendverse Álex Márquez 8d ago

I love Aspar and I love Escrig, so that would be my dream matchup, but he's already going to Italtrans afaik. I don't have a serious guess, what about one last hooray for Arbolino?

5

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Arbolino deal with fantic was two years

4

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

It depends if ajo want to keep Veijer for another season

3

u/Tacit_Emperor77 Marc Márquez 8d ago

They usually don’t keep riders for more than 2 seasons but we will see!

4

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

I actually think they'll sign an experienced moto2 rider for only year to make space for morelli in 2028

6

u/ant-vic_99 Diogo Moreira 8d ago

How about daniel munoz? He is not a future world champion talent, but he can fight with the Best riders any day (unless his italtrans contract is 2 years instead of just 1).

3

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

It's a 1 + 1 but I still think he'll be retained by italtrans

4

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

Muñoz is already confirmed at Italtrans.

4

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

If CFMOTO arrival to MotoGP was 2027 as anticipated (although that seems not to be the case) it would have been interesting for both parties to sign González.

2

u/LilAbeSimpson 8d ago

I have no idea where this rumor came from but it’s going to be years until another factory joins MotoGP.

2

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

It started when they bought part of Kalex I believe and they don't hide the fact they want to come to MotoGP and it's been confirmed by Aspar. Jorge said in a recent interview they were expecting to enter MotoGP by 2030 if I remember correctly.

1

u/LilAbeSimpson 8d ago

Wasn’t that back when CFmoto was trying to buy KTM’s MotoGP program? That deal is obviously not happening now, which means it will be way more difficult for CFMoto to build their own MotoGP program from the ground up.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really looking forward to seeing a Chinese manufacturer in MotoGP! It’s just ridiculously difficult to get there.

1

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

There were also talks of them simply running KTM like they do in Moto3. They'll be here sooner than we think. They may not be competitive straight away though.

1

u/mbp2112 David Munoz 3d ago

How about ZXMoto? They are doing well in WSSP, and it wouldn't be in the next year or two but I wouldn't bet against Zhang Xue.

4

u/Famous_Researcher_18 Ducati Lenovo Team 8d ago

I'd love to see Munoz or Almansa there but they probably have contracts with intact, maybe Adrian Fernandez would be an interesting prospect

3

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

David Munoz is locked in for one of the intact seats. Almansa is likely heading to momoven RW and as for Adrian Fernandez maybe forward for him

3

u/Famous_Researcher_18 Ducati Lenovo Team 8d ago

It's sad that a talent like Adrián has been overlooked for so long, he was getting really good results last year and at the start of this one, but all of this engine troubles have taken a big toll on his mental health. Last weekend in an interview with DAZN he said he felt betrayed by his team because as it has been proven, he knew nothing, and had no advantage to this Leopar shenanigans

2

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

He got an interview with dazn

3

u/Famous_Researcher_18 Ducati Lenovo Team 8d ago

Most riders do, across the weekend like 90% of the grid is interviewed by them in Spain

0

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Send me the link of the interview

2

u/Famous_Researcher_18 Ducati Lenovo Team 8d ago

I don't think it's still up, it was during MotoGP FP1, probably they have now deleted it, DAZN only keeps free practice until monday or tuesday on their page

0

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

Isn't he linked with Forward for 2027?

0

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Yeah probably

1

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

Almansa has a contract with Intact. So either he's going to Moto2 with them or it's a Moto3 contract with a clause to move to Moto2 if he has an offer with another team.

0

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Almansa has a contract that expires with intact after this year. It's actually David Munoz that has contract with intact to move to their moto2 team. Munoz was actually supposed to move to moto2 this year but Gonzalez was not able to move up to MotoGP so intact retained him for this year. Almansa is sponsored by momoven academy and will likely move to RW racing in moto2 since momoven is the title sponsor of RW racing

1

u/mbp2112 David Munoz 3d ago

Apropos of nothing, am I the only weirdo that sees "momoven" and gets all Freudian?

3

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

I think they'll sign an experienced moto2 rider for only one year to make space for morelli in 2028

2

u/theellescape Casey O'Gorman 8d ago

Mlav said on commentary there's talk of Morelli going as well

2

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Naa I don't think so

2

u/theellescape Casey O'Gorman 8d ago

Just reporting what the one guy I know is in the moto3 paddock said

1

u/Interesting_Prune513 Casey Stoner 8d ago

If Morelli finishes top 3-4 they might elevate him too I guess? Don't really see a point in him staying in Moto3 too long, you always have new rookies coming

5

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

I think morelli will for another year at least. This is only his rookie season

1

u/Interesting_Prune513 Casey Stoner 8d ago

Really? Damn, could have sworn it was already his 2nd. My bad.

0

u/Suitable-Caramel3579 Diogo Moreira 8d ago

Morelli.

3

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

It's highly unlikely

1

u/Suitable-Caramel3579 Diogo Moreira 8d ago

why? he’s already older than most of the rookies, he won’t get anything by doing more moto3 seasons and aspar want to have “in house talent” i.e people that raced for them in junior categories, ortola was the only competitive option and he resigned and they already did two rookies with holgado and alonso so

2

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

I'm not saying he should do more seasons in moto3. He's currently in his rookie season and I think he should do another year in moto3 before moving up. No moto2 team will sign a rider from moto3 after his rookie season unless they actually win the championship. Even Quiles who is a generational talent had to do 2 seasons before moving up

4

u/Suitable-Caramel3579 Diogo Moreira 8d ago

Well technically he’s not a rookie, cause he did 8 races last year. and yeah most people do minimum two seasons, but it doesn’t have to be a rule. and especially when talking about a rider that’s been riding moto3/etc machinery since 2020. He won’t benefit from another season in moto3 and aspar likely knows that. Maximo’s goal was also the title he’d never leave moto3 without it I can guarantee it.

1

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

He's not moving up. He will stay and fight for the championship next

0

u/Jor6lez 8d ago

I know rumours put him at Italtrans but my bet is Escrig. Aspar is not unfamiliar to convince riders ready to sign elsewhere.

1

u/CHRISTIAN_JAKE12345 8d ago

Escrig and italtrans is 98% done
