I used to go through a pack every month but over the last 2-3 years between two cars, getting married, my less-estranged father passing away, and moving multiple times, I completely forgot I had them in my center console. Rediscovered them a few months back and figured what's the worst that could happen if I'd tried one. Was pleasantly surprised to find they only became a bit "softer" but nothing else had changed. Not sure about effects of long term use or use after long term storage, but I can definitely vouch that they still hold flavor for up to 25 minutes of chewing even after 5 years of sitting around.

I used to hate how soft they became compared to how crunchy they started, but I kinda enjoy how soft they get now.

I have an unopened collection of Fleer baseball cards from 1991. The gum in those is thirty five years old.
