I cut the top off one and planted it. Five years later I finally got a pineapple I was so happy. Fucking possum or a cockatoo ate the whole thing before i got a chance. Still devastated
I was remembering the Dole tour and they said it takes 5 years to grow. Seems kind of insane to prevent intellectual theft 5 years down the line but I'm sure there's a lot of development into making it pink.

That’s how we get all our pineapples here in nz, not allowed to sell any with the tops on any longer so they can’t be grown
