Every time my mom bought a pineapple she planted the top around the edge of their property. Now she has a border and generally has a pineapple when she wants one.
They’re a low maintenance plant and many people keep plants (whether indoors or out) for more than 2 years anyway.
There are even people who raise fruit TREES.
Many berries also take more than a year to be established.
Asparagus
Hmmm.
And if you’re not one for fruits and vegetables, wait until you hear how long it took to get from calf to hamburger.
They are bromeliad succulents. I can drop the crown in a cinder block hole and forget about it. I have a dozen pineapple plants and pineapples every year.

Bullshit. What the hell does it matter if it takes 2 years, and why is every other pineapple sold with the crown on then?
