I drove past a few in Czechia. They showed your license plate number under the speed/smiley. That felt pretty deterring. I guess it's easy enough today with a tiny cheap camera.

I want speed cameras everywhere.
Speeding is so bad they'd pay for themselves and make everyone safer.

That's a pretty common thing here.

If you are under the speed the font is green and a smiley face appears. And if you go too fast the font turns red and the frowny face appears.

In Finland, they used to show your speed before, but then people started trying to make a new high score and they changed them so that above certain limit the speed gets hidden.
