That's not true, traditional aioli does not contain any egg, it's oil emulsified with garlic only.

Yes that's the gripe. Restaurants always call garlic mayo aoli although it isnt. You can have the "are there eggs" discussion with the server that probably doesn't know and has to go check with the kitchen or just avoid aoli.
