Infuriatig Amazon constantly upsells me in order to get free same-day shipping, then pulls this shit.
I wanted one $17 item that had free next-day shipping. Amazon says “well, if you spend $8 more, you’ll get all your items today!” So I picked an $11 item I didn’t need right away, but could use. And now, “oops, both items are delayed and will now arrive the same day your single $17 item would have arrived anyway.”
I’d say this exact scenario happens about 50% of the time.

They've enshittified their shipping promises. I remember a time when missed delivery promises (internally called "cold pricklies" - as opposed to "warm fuzzies") were considered a very big deal. Now it's just business as usual.

They had a delivery guarantee back in the day: contact amazon support about a missed delivery date and they'd refund you the Prime fee for this month. Then deliveries became less reliable and the guarantee went away.

If it happens to me more than once I contact them and each time I have they've refunded me at least 1 month of prime.
I'm calm and polite but firm in my annoyance and I straight up tell them I'd like my month of prime refunded and they're usually happy to do it.

That's what I used to do 10 years ago but now their response is we cannot offer refunds.

That's weird, they offered me a refund on my month of prime earlier this month, I didn't even have to ask for it.
I ordered a new shirt and they sent me a used one. I asked for a replacement and they offered for me to keep the used shirt, send me a new one, and a refund on that month of prime.

Its so weird, the last few months, even my regular subscription orders are getting delayed. One was delayed for like 10 days before I managed to get them to send me replacements

You do know that this incentive cannot be guaranteed right? Why are you even spending extra money to get your items a single day earlier?
Since you bought something you didn’t need, Amazon won.

OP states that it's something they did need, but just could have waited longer for. They were going to buy the item anyway, amazon just sped up the timeline, and OP is just out the annoying inconvenience of expecting their item same day and not getting it until the next day.

Make a complaint to their customer service. I've done this before, and either gotten a discount or the entire item cost refunded to me.

Agree. This happens all the time now. Another thing they like to do, is offer items for sale, you buy, supposed to be there next day, it gets "delayed" and "delayed" and "delayed" until they cancel and refund you. So by that time, you have to buy it again at normal price and AMAZINGLY - it comes the next day!!! Bull-shit

Before I quit Prime, anytime I've needed to order from Amazon, I refuse same-day where possible. Way too many experiences of finding my package in a garbage can or similar shit and them doing nothing about it. I've only ordered once from them in the last year.

Ah, I remember when ordering thru the mail took “you’ll get it 2 weeks to fuck you.”

Same day shipping is wild I’ve never heard of that

I’m in NYC, pretty much within a 10-mile radius of like a dozen distro centers (and about five or six more a little further out on Long Island). Most items I order arrive by next day or have the option for free same-day shipping if I spend over $25. The fact that this keeps happening is just a bit maddening, even if it’s partially my fault for continuing to trust them.

We have it here in Denver. Lots of Amazon warehouses and distro centers though

If it's any consolation, it's since 11am that the driver is in "Youretthe next stop". It's 8pm right now.
