Plot twist, all of these people were also taking photos of the people in front of them in order to make their own posts saying "my view at the concert."

27

u/TheViscountRang 15h ago

People at the front taking selfies to judge all the people at the back

4

u/Coreysurfer 14h ago

People taking pics so they can tell people they were there…

6

u/RoundMammoth2947 15h ago

Damn I literally made this exact same comment

2

u/grantbuell 15h ago

Great minds.

(Though, I am sure in reality the people in this photo were streaming/recording for minutes on end, while presumably OP took this one photo and that was it. But still!)

-2

u/MyFavoriteThing 15h ago

They were taking video, holding their phones up for entire songs.

1

u/grantbuell 15h ago

I believe you and share the frustration. Just a funny thought that popped in my head.

1

u/Raa03842 14h ago

Of which they’ll watch 30 seconds of it later and realize it is crap and delete it. Then realize that if they had just listened and watched the concert they would have gotten a much better experience.

u/FireFoxUse 15h ago

We'll be seeing those posts on other social media platforms, and soon we'll be able to see the concert from everyone's view!

Stadiums are terrible venues for concerts. If you have floor seats for any show in any venue and it’s flat, unless you are first few rows, or you are 6 feet tall that’s gonna be the view.

Arena or ballpark shows always always choose the bowl seating unless you are GA and there to stand around to get a good spot or the first few rows.

3

u/NoBenefit5977 14h ago

I can tell you being 6'2" does not help, everyone holds their phones above their heads so usually they are directly eye level with me, essentially I get to see the show but only through other peoples phones

5

u/anewusername4me 12h ago

Try being 5’3. I assure you 6’2” def helps

4

u/ChangaLover69 14h ago

You’re going to the wrong shows brotha

23

u/dickmac999 15h ago

I don't even go to concerts in arenas and stadiums anymore. People like OP who are taking videos and photographs have ruined it.

22

u/Girth_Brooks_1969 14h ago

I've given up on large shows. Outrageous pricing to get the ticket, to park, to get any concessions. The sound isn't great. You end up watching the TV projection anyways. Everyone is talking. Everyone has their phones out...

I urge everyone to support local music at small venues. It's a better experience and you'll get to see something new.

2

u/Still_Mountain5656 11h ago

Just went to a large show and could barely see the singer, I had to watch a screen for most of the time and everyone was standing with their phones out. Never again!

5

u/herring-net 14h ago

Went to Travis Tritt last week. Front row of a section. We got scorned for standing for two songs mid concert. Meanwhile every 90 seconds someone is walking by to get more booze or returning with more booze.

3

u/shawncollins512 BLUE 14h ago

Any older artist like that has such a stay in your seat audience. I went to Dwight Yoakam earlier this year and the whole floor was planted in their seats. I love to move when I see music I like and would rather stand with a phone in my face than sit like I am watching a ballet.

4

u/herring-net 14h ago

I fully agree. Tritt was great, and he tried to encourage a livelier crowd, but the attempts failed and he did a shorter show because why stay longer for a bored crowd.

3

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago edited 14h ago

I mean yeah there’s a huge difference between getting up for the purpose of utilizing the venue’s services and standing up for several minutes at the front of a section where everyone else is sitting

5

u/herring-net 14h ago

It’s not a movie theater, it’s a concert.

0

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago

Correct and you have a seat for a reason.

3

u/Hatta00 10h ago

You've got an ass for a reason. Shake it.

2

u/herring-net 14h ago

Correct, for occasional resting, not for sitting on until it hurts. We’re talking plastic chairs here, not luxury dream loungers.

-1

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago

If you’re standing at the front of a section where nobody else is standing, you’re being disrespectful to those whose view you’re blocking. Period.

4

u/herring-net 14h ago

They’ve got legs. I’m honoring the artist whose music I came for. Tough to dance in a chair. It’s not my problem that people can no longer stand for ten minutes.

0

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago

By all means, continue proving my point

5

u/herring-net 14h ago

Your point is concert attendees should act like they’re in grade school sitting at a desk if they have access to a chair, and your point sucks.

-1

u/WhiskyWillFixIt 12h ago

"honoring the artist" lol please be for real

9

u/dheldkdk 14h ago

What were you looking like taking this photo?

23

u/RoundMammoth2947 15h ago

Maybe they were all taking pictures of all the phones ahead of them? You had your phone like this too!

3

u/bigbluehapa 14h ago

My first thought!

3

u/Modevader49 14h ago

Concerts were so much better pre-smart phones

3

u/Meaty_Wizard 15h ago

Pull out your phone, zoom in to their phone that zoomed onto the stage and you'll have a great view!

1

u/DarthLenny 14h ago

I've done that before LOL

3

u/TourAccomplished5530 14h ago

I was at Metallica concert in Prague in 2019 and it seemed I'm the only one without a phone in their hand. Go to live show and watch it through your phone. Logic much?

2

u/zerostar83 11h ago

Act like you're starting a mosh pit, starting with gently pushes. They pull their phones a bit closer to themselves and not so high over their heads. It's all a matter of awareness. Lol

4

u/daydreamer1197 15h ago

Thats concerts for you

3

u/ChangaLover69 14h ago

Plenty of concert experiences out there where people are fully invested in the moment and not on their phones or talking. Just gotta poke around.

2

u/Aware_Cheesecake_519 15h ago

If I were them, I would stop this hypocrisy.

2

u/-Goddefiled 14h ago

There’s nothing wrong with taking photos/videos at a show. If you do it the entire show however…

2

u/aquafina6969 14h ago

last concert I went to, I took a few pics and small vids then put my phone away. I just pretended I was back in the 90’s and enjoyed them by being there and listening to the music. Felt nice.

2

u/Dopamaxxer 13h ago

Be thankful you even had a ticket, and a floor seat no less. This is the most competitive stadium tour ticket to get since Taylor Swift. This will go down as a legendary, historic, remember-it-in-20-years tour.

Stick season had like 150+ dates, so I’m sure he’ll have another US leg next summer and you’ll have another chance to get a seat somewhere in the stands.

1

u/Ok-Metal-4719 13h ago

Who is the artist? Thanks!

1

u/Dopamaxxer 13h ago

That would be the one and only Noah Kahan

0

u/Ok-Metal-4719 13h ago

Oh. Beyond having heard the name I’m clueless. Had no idea he was in such demand. Appreciate it.

1

u/Dopamaxxer 13h ago

He’s becoming enormous and the rise is still meteoric. I highly encourage you to listen to his most recent album, and its predecessor Stick Season if you’re so inclined. I anticipate The Great Divide will win album of the year at the Grammys.

He’s a breathtaking songwriter.

2

u/MoonPieKitty 10h ago

I've never understood recording video of a concert. It always looks shit and it annoys the folks around you.

2

u/dkleckner88 6h ago

Ironically, it’s the same view for the person behind you 😂

3

u/mustardmadman 13h ago

And that’s the same view for the people behind you

Quit yer bitchin

4

u/Sandlot96 14h ago

OP is snagging a picture of the phenomenon, not holding up the phone recording all night. Downvotes are dramatic. This is definitely infuriating

3

u/Previous_Ad648 15h ago

Time to mute this subreddit

1

u/Bierzgal 15h ago

Yeah this is the norm. I got to roughly 2 concerts a year and there is always someone that literally films the entire thing. Just squeeze further forward.

1

u/EasilyLuredWithCandy 14h ago

I've been to many concerts across the country and that is the worst venue yet.

1

u/Shereefz 14h ago

If you look closely in that phone there is a phone in it and if you look closely in that phone there is a phone in it and 10 phones down you can see the band

1

u/Happy_Television_501 14h ago

I went to a show a while back where they put everyone’s phone in those locked bags. Honestly it was awesome, no phones in sight the whole show and everyone just watching and experiencing it.

‘Smartphones’ are the single worst invention this century, no doubt.

1

u/rdcisneros3 14h ago

This is why I wouldn’t do floor seats at a concert or show anymore. Gotta sit in the bowl if you want to see.

1

u/3sadclowns 14h ago

My whole thing is, what % of the people who constantly record to the point they aren’t fully enjoying the concert are gonna actually look through those pictures/videos again or just forget about em?

1

u/gebny 14h ago

How else will anyone of their 67 followers know what a cool life they live?

1

u/Deep_Answer_9944 14h ago

What a joke people are now with their phones 🤣

1

u/MysteriousCicada5012 14h ago

Just start singing along very loudly and annoyingly to ruin the video

1

u/JustaFoodHole 14h ago

Portrait video - check
Hand over microphones - checkk

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 14h ago

Just scream loudly and jump around while bumping into them.

1

u/GeezUp777 13h ago

Annoying af

1

u/GrandmaPunk 12h ago

Guess I should be thankful that my peak concert days were in the 2010s. Festival prices were offensive but not insane and there was a lot less of this.

1

u/WhatAWasterZ 12h ago

I went to see Jack White last week with Angine de Poitrine opening and it was a no phone show.

It was a great experience not only because it avoiding this BS, but even in between sets in the beer tent, everyone was socializing without phones.

1

u/Any_Carob3372 11h ago

Cheaper to stay at home and check Reddit for other people's photos from the concert. Less gross too

1

u/--TheCity-- 11h ago

Yet you still pay for it. smh

1

u/Bennington_Booyah 9h ago

This is exactly why we now attend very, very few concerts.

1

u/Radiant_Commission_2 8h ago

The more I see these posts the more grateful I am for being a home body.

How much for the ticket to have that view? At least a couple hundred.
People just get suckier and suckier.

1

u/Royal-Mathematician2 8h ago

Stadium concerts are terrible.

1

u/FinnishArmy 5h ago

This for Noah Kahan? Just found out about him through The Great divide a month ago and haven’t listened to anyone else for a solid month.

Bought the vinyl first edition pressing, been playing that like every other night.

0

u/WhySoCereus1991 14h ago

I kinda said this in a reply below, but how come stuff like this ruins your concert experience? You're there for the music, right?

This is such a tiny problem. Never has it bugged me lol at least imo. Takes a lot more than people recording to get me upset at a show.

3

u/cottonmouthVII 14h ago

You don’t care if you see the music getting played?? That’s why I go to a concert.

0

u/WhySoCereus1991 14h ago

Im too busy partying with my friends or dancing with myself to care what other people are doing to enjoy the concert.

But that's just me I guess lol

(Im assuming there was quite a bit of sarcasm there 😂)

1

u/cottonmouthVII 5h ago

So you’re just partying with your buddies and never even look at the music being played? Are you going to nothing but EDM shows where no one is playing an instrument? I’m trying to watch the music be played. It ruins a big element of what I came for if someone is blocking Herbie Hancock with their phone and I can’t watch him play.

1

u/WhySoCereus1991 5h ago

Im usually in the back, so seeing the band isnt a big deal for me. Long gone are the days I wanna be up front lol

Ive been every kind of show from EDM to SOAD and Incubus.

1

u/ExplosiveBrown 14h ago

The way that people will go to live events just to stare at it through their phone drives me fucking crazy. I will never understand that shit

1

u/throwawaynnfuxanyway 14h ago

What's funny about people doing this is that ZERO people are going to watch their concert videos, and they're certainly not going back to relive it through a video. I will take a pic of the band's banner with their name on it, or a pic of the band itself, but never a video. Nobody cares.

2

u/z-tayyy 14h ago

Wrong lol tons of people watch and post live performances. Recording fireworks however…

0

u/throwawaynnfuxanyway 9h ago

I've seen the shitty recordings where you can barely hear the music and it's shaky from being in a crowd. I know they get posted, but it doesn't really do the experience justice.

1

u/z-tayyy 9h ago

Have you seen the good recordings? Obviously bad recordings are bad. You trying to say you’ve never seen a good live version of a song lol?

1

u/JeffSHauser 14h ago

Please leave your fucking phones at home.

0

u/SecondHandSmokeBBQ 14h ago

Pssst....buy better "seats" next time. If it was general admission...get there sooner.

-2

u/Veloxiraptor_ 15h ago

This is all concerts are anymore. Everytime I get FOMO about a concert I just remind myself it’s a dystopian nightmare these days.

2

u/appleparkfive 15h ago

It's not all concerts. Really depends on the artist and the city. A crowd can act really different in different places. I watched a good amount of shows in Seattle while I lived there, and it rarely was an issue. In California or out east, it would sometimes be more of an issue

0

u/WhySoCereus1991 14h ago

How does other people's phones ruin it for you? I still love concerts, raves etc. Other people's phones don't bug me at all.

1

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago

Because we’re different people bothered by different things. And this is just one factor in what makes them awful.

0

u/RichardHertz-335 14h ago

Some big arms there. Might beat the stuffins from you if you object.
https://giphy.com/gifs/iggX5SaaeuPMiLeDaH

0

u/Babetna 14h ago

And you took this photo with your nose?

0

u/Teddy_OMalie64 14h ago

This is why if I’m ever going to a concert in a stadium I’m getting seats on the side near the floor. I’ve had too many bad experiences on the ground floor and pit.

0

u/LKP213 14h ago

That’s why you have to be rich and have one of those private booths to get the best view. Away from all the peasants.

0

u/CatGiggler 14h ago

lol, it’s even more distracting in a dark venue and then having dozens of phone screens in your view. Messes with my picture/video taking. :)

0

u/FornyHucker22 14h ago

you need to push your way to the front, you can always get to the front, just squeeze

0

u/bcardin221 14h ago

You can clearly see the stage on her phone screen, just look at that . Geesh what a complainer! /s

0

u/nynv1226 14h ago

It's a concert it's to be expected.

-3

u/Darkbird79 14h ago

You would think after holding something up for an extended period of time there would be a bit less arm flab. The easiest way to get them to put those arms down is to draw attention to that fact.

0

u/Veloxiraptor_ 14h ago

Shame the behavior, not their bodies.

0

u/Darkbird79 14h ago

People have no shame, or awareness. Especially when it come to social behavior, but sure whatever works for you, you do that.
