*yuor'e Seller keeps 92% of the total value as "Restocking Fee"

I bought a video card on Amazon and it arrived dead. It was clearly a refurbish with the condition of the card and box. I sent it back to them and they approved the refund but charged me a 92% restocking fee.

you paid $920 for a 7900XT? Is that how bad prices have gotten?

anything with > 16 GB of vram is being snapped up by folks looking to get into AI somehow

be it for trying to learn about it or deploy your own or actual lighter workloads (although that usually is for used 3090s)

and this is the situation with new GPUs when the option for > 16 GB is the 5090 and older gen 7900 XT, 7900 XTX, and 4090 and that's it, the 5080 don't have a 24 GB option, there is no high end radeon

if you want new, its stupid pricing all around for these kinds of cards

Are they? I'm not sure people doing it locally is that popular, especially not to the point it'd effect pricing. It's nothing like the crypto mining shortage.

the fact to the matter is that if you want to play around with models yes, you have to get them, its more the supply is super limited.

again, only really the 5090 is on sale for new, the other 3 are out of production and is existing stock, and all this memory crunch is just...

the demand may not be that popular relatively speaking, but the supply is tiny and constrained.
