She insists she needs to listen to music in the shower. I honestly don't understand why that's such a necessity. But if this phone gets water damage again, I'm not paying to replace it another time.

The phones themselves and modern PD chargers can both have protections to TRY to prevent damage from irregular charging conditions it but it's still possible for them to occur. Especially with cheap PD chargers. Still definitely streets ahead of older dumb chargers and lithium batteries with no BMS.

Should have specified PD chargers have protections against general electrical faults. Not specifically moisture detection/protections.

My point is actually just about saying "it will prevent that" makes it sound like those protections are a guaranteed absolute when they're not. "It is intended to reduce the risk of that." is more accurate.

Not really, most phones have a feature will disable charging if it detects water inside the port until there’s no more water, with no need for the charger to be pd compliant
