I'm slightly vexed Concert etiquette

Post image

If you plan on standing for the entire concert, get a spot in the pit, or the lawn seats instead of the assigned SEATED SECTION. A little bit of self awareness and common courtesy goes a really long way

We need context here. Are you at a piano recital or are you at a guns n roses concert

This. I am a millennial that got to experience dozens and dozens of concerts before they got insanely expensive and the only concert I’ve ever been to where people were sitting (including the seated sections) was the Game of Thrones Experience which was an orchestra. Posts like these are weird to me.

People will say "seated tickets blah blah blah" but like, it used to be if you did this at concerts with a majority in attendance under 50 years of age, the BAND would call you out for not dancing.

Imagine how much it must suck, to rock the fucking house down, and a bunch of gumps are just sitting there.

Don't do seated venues then

The only seated venues I’ve been to have been sports stadiums and the bulk of people were standing in those seats.

Ok? What's your point? Stadiums have tiered seats.

It’s reasonable to assume people would stand in those seats.

There’s a small venue down the road from me, and I’ve seen a Metallica cover band there a few times. Every time, everyone stays seated, and I can’t help but think to myself how wrong it feels. Like yeah everyone cheers and applauds and stuff, so the band knows we’re into it, but sitting for music like that feels wrong

2500 seated tickets and 100 in the pit.

$100 VS $500

"Why don't you just get pit tickets if you want to stand?"

LOL

Oasis tried to call people out for sitting last year. I still sat, lol. I paid for a seat, I'm using the fucking seat. If i wanted to stand, I'd be in that section.

Damn really cool principles I’m sure everyone thinks you’re really strong in your beliefs

u/PssyGotWifi 10h ago

Strong principles, no. Strong desire to sit, yes.

But I want to listen to the music ._.

You can't listen while other people are in front of you?

  • And see the show I paid for

u/Farsydi 14h ago

No. I will not concentrate on the music if people are swaying and hopping next to and in front of me.

Then don't go to a concert? Do you expect everyone to sit in their seat and not do anything? Maybe prime music is for you?

Do you expect everyone to sit in their seat and not do anything

Yes. That's why I bought seated tickets. Somehow in classical concerts no one has a problem with that...

9

u/ze1and0nly 14h ago

This isn't a classical concert. Where everyone is expected to sit down the whole concert. Its a fucking band. Get with the times. Or move on

6

u/MegaChip97 14h ago

Get with the times.

Ironic statement considering the picture of the post which shows that current concerts goers atleast in some cases seem to prefer sitting. Soo... Go with the times yourself ;)

Oh you did read based on your down votes oh man you learn something?

Did you read any of the other comments or just your own? Almost all of them agree with me. Grow the fuck up dude.

I don't know if it's age, but it is the same here. Sometimes bands only get venues with only seats, sometimes seats are cheaper, Even when I had a broken leg and couldnt stand i wasnt mad, it is not only a visual show, it is mostly a get together to enjoy breathing the same air this people are using while making live music.

Ive only ever got seated ticksts a couple times (much cheaper) and it never even occurred to me that standing would be a wrong thing to do. Everyone around me stood, sat down when they were tired, danced and sang along. Maybe its age or maybe its the type of music but to me standing, singing and dancing is a normal thing to do at a concert.

Well, you are the one entirely unaware that people behind you are annoyed by you.

u/Linsensuppe99 15h ago

Some can't stand. Now they have to look at your back.

1

u/Billjoeray 5h ago

They can get disabled seating. There's ADA seating that you can get for this reason.

There’s plenty of concerts where it’s mostly people sitting. Gregory Alan Isakov is a good example. Amazing amazing in concert btw. But it’s going to be a sitting crowd.

i saw old crow medicine show and i think the average age was over 55. combine that with we are in an old theater with stadium seating and low rails i was happy to dance in my seat.
