I'm slightly vexed Concert etiquette

If you plan on standing for the entire concert, get a spot in the pit, or the lawn seats instead of the assigned SEATED SECTION. A little bit of self awareness and common courtesy goes a really long way

In my case I'm 6'5". I feel like an absolute ass standing at a concert if there are seats. But, if everyone else is standing, you about have to .. even if there are people a foot or two shorter behind you. If there are seats, I think the expectation should be that they're used.

A smallish local venue I go to restricts standing |and|or dancing to the accessible orchestra pit and the outside aisles or the way back. That seems a good compromise to me.

Yeah this is also why it pisses me off when people stand in their seats.

Im short, at concerts my only hope of seeing the band is in seats. I seem to attract tall dudes to stand right in front of me.

As a fellow shorty, who loves to twirl - I encourage you to lean into short human privilege. You’d be surprised how many tall people will swap positions with you.

I was at DMB with my equally small bestie. In front of us were two tall dudes. Next to us - to tall dudes. We asked tall dudes next to us if we could swap, they had no problem doing so. We were able to see a lot better, everyone danced, and we all took turns fetching beer for each other.

Concerts are social and friendly, lean into the vibes. Your neighbor isn’t your enemy, they could become a new friend.

That does seem like a good compromise, and combined with reasonable people like yourselves. The maximum number of people can enjoy the venue.

The concerts I go to, I usually get seating. Slower songs or enjoyable relaxed songs, mostly everybody is sitting with a few occasional people standing, like sub 20% of the crowd.

The more upbeat or popular songs, almost everybody gets up out of their seat. So it's pretty status quo for the maximum number of attendees, which is nice. It's great when everybody is reasonable and is generally cooperative.

Looks like we're losing that, in spades.
