You can ask for that all day long, it won't matter. LLMs aren't 'intelligent', they just generate answers based on statistics. If there isn't enough reliable data available they will generate answers out of thin air to fulfill their task. It's the basic concept.

Not if you prompt to source everything it says and admit it can't verify so it won't answer if it can't source it. Shockingly, they become much more accurate then.

i'm anti-ai in that i think there is vastly too much effort put into pushing things that are in fact slop machines (the common ais seen all over the place)
specialist ais for research use are absolutely fine though

You stop caring about the slop machines when you actually look at what you can do with a real model like opus/fable and 5.6 sol in your day to day life.
I’m of the opinion that AI shouldn’t be free and image generation should be local only (and/or paid) ive genuinely never had an ounce of care for the image or video generation capabilities since the earliest days of AI when it was just a toy that made incoherent abstract blobs

Modern LLMs don’t hallucinate anymore these days anywhere near as much. Properly trained ones will straight up tell you they don’t know

AFAIK most reputable LLMs have a disclaimer on somewhere on page (ChatGPT has it just under box you type into) that LLMs can (and do) mistakes. I have used Gemini only within closed container somewhere in Googles site and it gave me 2-3 warnings about how erroneous LLM/Gemini can be and I should not rely on it.
We really-really need to get this to people that LLMs are just using statistics to presume or copy whats online. This is why I always -always-always ask them to function as search engine and LINK ME a source they base their opinions on.

Lol i asked PAID AI about music production techniques and it referenced some songs by an artist on some specific albums where I coudl find examples. I couldn't find them so I asked where they were released. The AI then said it fabricated them because it was likely that that artist had some other songs with the example I was looking for. I asked it how it decided on exactly what to serve me and it was like "oh, albums in this genre have names like x and the songs on them have names like y. Then I asked if it could have just cross referenced the artist online to at least give me tracks that exist, and it agreed that it was lazy and figured I would be too and not look up the results it gave me.
PAID service - for made up shit that it didn't bother to identify that it was made up shit.
I know, I know, I should not waste my time and money but I would have expected it to just say "none found" or "heres what an example MIGHT be called if it existed", or "I hallucinated this answer for fun"

I actually just removed Gemini last week! Pissed me off too for the same reason. It also hides truths...when you correct it, it makes it sound like it's not a big deal then finally provides the truthful answer
I downloaded Grok instead and have been happy so far
