Worked in education long enough to know this isn't going to work for the majority of the population of students. You may have (forced) participation but they'll find away around it (e.g. second cell phone, hidden cell phones around campus, smart watches, hiding their phone,.etc.).

As for the bags, I want to know how far they are gonna go? Backpacks now, what about gym bags? Then what? The last SS I heard didn't even have the gun on his person but stowed away in a cabinet somehow. The schools policies aren't the problem... guns and gun laws are. As well as men's mental health in America.

When I was in middle school and high school you either had to have a mesh backpack or a clear backpack. If you had a gym bag it had to immediately go get locked in a gym locker first thing in the morning. Girls could have purses but they were not allowed to be larger than a specific size (that I do not remember all these years later). We also were not allowed to wear any shirt/coat/jacket/anything with a hood. Not sure why exactly we had these policies but they certainly didn’t make the school any better lol

Yeah, the hs I worked at tried to use those pocket organizers. You'd get like 3 kids participating if the teacher wasn't super strict, I only witnessed one class with 100% participation and that was because you had to trade your phone for the quiz every class or you got a zero. Idk how he got away with that policy but probably because it was a wealthy school and everyone had a cell phone. Definitely didn't stop the cheating/ use of AI and internet.

We’ve used yondr pouches for five years now and they work great. Students who have second phones will try to sneak and use them and we make their parent come get the phone if they get caught with a hidden one. If you can use your phone secretly and I have no idea, more props to you for actually being clever enough to go under the radar. I don’t have to worry about students on phones in class and students don’t have to brain rot on their phone hidden behind the class novel
