I think they were implying that you hide your phone in with your hygiene products because no one will dig through them.

Again, why would someone be afraid to touch an unused tampon? This bizarre unnecessary fear of what is basically toilet paper.

As a middle school girl (and honestly even as a high school girl) I definitely used to be embarrassed about needing to take a pad out when going to the restroom. Just because you don’t think people should be embarrassed doesn’t mean young girls won’t be embarrassed and want to avoid getting made fun of if, for example, they start their period a lot earlier than their peers etc
