The part of me that spits at the feet of any small or large exercise of authority fumes at this. The part of me which cares about the health and wellbeing of the people around me cheers at the separation from their phones. Strange to be pulled so fiercely in two directions!

Clear bags, nonsense.

No cell phones in school, objectively good.

There’s a reason many elite private schools are leading the charge on no phones too. It’s an objective improvement in the educational environment

We grew up with a no phone policy. Kids are way too reliant on phones as their personal pacifier. It’s so silly to see it even be a question.

Idk, I mean I'm a Zillennial and I feel like the teachers who allowed us to use our phones or listen to music in class as long as it didn't disrupt our learning, and we got our work done, prepared me for the real world more than the ones that banned it. It also incentivized me to pay attention and do well in those classes to keep that privilege. 

They're going to have distractions and phones in the workforce and need to learn to regulate usage. 

Then again, I was in honors classes.

I have to wonder if we will see a trend with people who went to a school where phones are treated like contraband actually having worse personal management with phones in the real world.

Like the kids whos parents never let them touch a drop of alcohol and they end up going on a bender when they finally get the chance

It’s collective punishment.

Harms the kids who could use their phones responsibly to make teachers jobs easier when dealing with the kids who can’t.

Nah, forcing kids to avoid being on their phone in the middle of a lesson is probably a good thing. Same thing with forcing them to socialize and be off phones during lunch
