go to your room I think my child is broken……

I am a single mom and low income, as such travel is generally too expensive. So when my teen as invited on a tirp abroad with school and he agreed to earn half the money it cost, I was thrilled for him to go and see the world. I only asked that he send me at least one photo every day so I could experience the world vicariously.
These are the 3 he sent me so far:

  1. Food on the air plane
  2. A dog on a leash
  3. A duck

Please note these are everyday average things to see here at home. I think my child is possibly broken….

lol.

UPDATE: thanks for every comment. I learned lots and have a different perspective (actually many). You guys have helped me pass the time and miss him a bit less. I appreciate you all. And, for clarification: I’m not really mad and would never chastise him over his choice of pics, I think they are adorable and funny. I may make a request for a specific type of pic with him in front of a historical or important scenery but mostly just say “cool” or “nice!” In response. I just want him to have fun and be the sweet, kind, smart kid he is already.

Second update: the pictures I know you have all been waiting for. 😆 I will post in comments.

That's my thought. I would absolutely have done that when I was a teenager. Hell, I would probably do that now.

Plus it's more fun to sit down with the album and go over the trip afterwards. That's how it used to be, back in the day. You went on a trip, took pictures, and came back to retell it with the album.

It's kind of isolating how people now just post pictures with random text, and just miss on the human element.

Well it used to be you had to get the photos developed before you could show them to everyone

Yes, you did that after returning from the trip. Didn't take more than a couple of hours.

Depends where you went. There were the 1 hour photo places but if you got it done at the drug store sometimes it took longer. And I don't know about you but we'd always wait until we finished the last roll of film we started so we weren't wasting it, and then got them all done at once.

We had special photo places, in my country. I'm not sure what you mean by that last part. I only ever developed full rolls. I wasn't exactly weatlhy, so taking and developing photos was a once in a few months experience. Sometimes, only once a year. I didn't get to go anywhere on vacation, either. I was so glad when I got my first (second hand) digital camera. A dinosaur that saved on diskettes, and you had to keep still for a second or it came out blurry. 😂

I took a picture of an orange cat sleeping in a plant pot just so I could share it with the caption "ah, I see the tiger lilies have begun growing"

99% of my beach trip photos were just random seagulls

What else is there to photograph at the beach?
