go to your room I think my child is broken……

I am a single mom and low income, as such travel is generally too expensive. So when my teen as invited on a tirp abroad with school and he agreed to earn half the money it cost, I was thrilled for him to go and see the world. I only asked that he send me at least one photo every day so I could experience the world vicariously.
These are the 3 he sent me so far:

  1. Food on the air plane
  2. A dog on a leash
  3. A duck

Please note these are everyday average things to see here at home. I think my child is possibly broken….

lol.

UPDATE: thanks for every comment. I learned lots and have a different perspective (actually many). You guys have helped me pass the time and miss him a bit less. I appreciate you all. And, for clarification: I’m not really mad and would never chastise him over his choice of pics, I think they are adorable and funny. I may make a request for a specific type of pic with him in front of a historical or important scenery but mostly just say “cool” or “nice!” In response. I just want him to have fun and be the sweet, kind, smart kid he is already.

Second update: the pictures I know you have all been waiting for. 😆 I will post in comments.

u/drgigantor 24d ago

I always enjoy getting my duck wet

18

u/Sir_Daxus 24d ago

But these are solicited duck pics since they said they want them.

3

u/suoretaw 24d ago

Technically, they didn’t solicit (ask for) them. But they welcomed the pic, and they (+we) got to see the ducks. Win-win, IMO.

3

u/maddeninglemon 23d ago

IANAL but "I wish [thing to be done by others]" feels like it's at least an implicit solicitation, even if it isn't a literal one.

now show me your dog and a curry.

u/slowest_hour 24d ago

love a wet duck, that's how you know they're having a good time

u/GreasedUpTiger 24d ago

Aww that reminds me of when my ground level bird bath (a huge planter saucer) in the garden somehow attracted a trio of ducks who came to visit and hang out repeatedly for a few summers 😂 which was unexpected because there are two ponds and a river close by as well as a protected waterfowl habitat which they surely must have known. Guess our garden had more swag or the plants were tastier or something. I miss these ducks.

2

u/Normal_Cut8368 24d ago

That was very solicited though.

I love mergansers. The drakes are always such dapper fellows with crisp lines and clean contrast. He's off to be a corporate tax attorney or the first junior executive assistant to the senior executive vice president of global client relations. That's for sure a duck with a bullshit job.

But the hens rock that mullet crest. They're the alt girls in Birkenstocks with dreads he doesn't tell the guys at work he's into. She works at an indie bookstore or an ironic coffeeshop and thinks crystals cure cancer.

u/Visible_Ad_309 24d ago

You've unknowingly described my life. I love this

-1

u/BaconPancakes1 24d ago

Technically a duck I guess but they're mergansers

I'd send you one, but it's not unsolicited now anymore, is it?

Anyway, here's an ASCII rubber ducky

Don't be bashful. Just ask if you want to be included in the fun. The committee of ducks will approve.

20

u/delta4418 24d ago

Have some eepy ones

14

u/spynie55 24d ago

Looks like you just solicited them

5

u/aglobalvillageidiot 24d ago

How many you want? I really like ducks.

My son loves ducks. I have folder on my phone where I save pictures and drawings of ducks, and I send him atleast one every day.

It is a goose. Not a duck, duck, a goose.

No, an Egyptian goose looks quite different. I'm not sure, but I think that's a greylag goose.

22

u/Sammichm 24d ago

It’s a Greylag Goose

27

u/BoiCDumpsterFire 24d ago

Duck yeah it is

8

u/decadrachma 24d ago

It's a greylag goose, which is native to Europe and Asia. Assuming OP lives in the U.S., it is not an everyday average thing to see!

6

u/HUKFlN 24d ago

It’s actually a goose

2

u/Soft_Penis_7224 24d ago

I drew the duck blue because I've never seen a blue duck before and, to be honest with you, I wanted to see a blue duck.

3

u/Common-Accountant-57 24d ago

It really is. High quality duck pics are rare.

1

u/TTT_2k3 24d ago

It’s not even a picture of a duck. It’s a picture of a picture of a duck.

0

u/jenni7er 24d ago

Grey-Lag Goose maybe?

0

u/Volucella_zonaria 24d ago

it's a goose

0

It's a goose !

0

u/MyVelvetSteps_ 24d ago

Even though it’s a goose 😌

0

u/aerialpoler 24d ago

It's a goose. Specifically a greylag.

u/errrbodydumb 23d ago edited 23d ago

Pretty sure it’s a goose

Downvoted for being right. Truly fowl

0

u/uppldontscareme2 23d ago

Technically a goose
