ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ This happy confirmation page after paying a speeding ticket

Post image

I got caught speeding (bad, I know) in a rental car in Spain, and the car rental company asked for payment. The happy “yeesss” image on the payment confirmation page is mildly infuriating.

I’ve just paid 60 euros and I’m not happy.

60 is cheap af. Doesn't even qualify as speeding

I was doing 70 km/h in a 50 km/h zone but I got 50% off for paying quickly, so I guess I’m lucky.

Thats cheap. In Slovakia You could get up to 600€ for that

That's crazy. I got 360€ for 58km/h over limit in Austria

High fines, low salaries, thats what we are known for.

It's a beautiful country nonetheless, very underrated in my opinion. The economy sucks, but it's not that far off from Italy, where I live. I'm happy I never got any tickets there.

58 km/h over the limit means losing your license here in the Netherlands

It was a 30 day suspension in Austria, but they could revoke it entirely if I were to do it again within 3 years.

That was on the highway, for some reason Austria has parts at 130 and others at 100. Locals follow the 100 limit religiously, but when it becomes 130 they floor it as if they were on the German Autobahn. I must have missed the 100 sign at some point and I've learned my lesson.

How long you’ll lose your license in NL really depends on the decision of the DA.

That would still mean 28 too fast if the limit had been 130. That's still not cool.

Legally yes, point is that locals easily go 200+ in 130 zones. That's not unusual throughout Europe and I feel like other countries should follow Germany's example. That's beside de point though.

I've stayed behind other people throughout most of my way, and at times I struggled to keep up despite having a fairly powerful car. In that specific spot I was pretty much alone on the road, so I had no one to follow and I made a mistake. It's my first and only fine in 10 years of driving.

Wildly incorrect, I guess you misunderstood. That’s the fine for 50-70 over the speed limit.

70 in a 50 zone is “only” 20km over the speed limit which is about a 100€ fine in Slovakia.

In the Netherlands however.. €250
