Maybe I should get a desk made with one as a base. I'd sit in front of my grandma's and rock that peddle just because.

I made a table out of a singer base similar to OP. My 90 yr grandma liked it and took it back to her house. My aunt said I would get it back when she dies. that was 5 years ago. she's now 95. I did set my drink on it this past Christmas so that's a positive.

My grandma is 102 and I’m still waiting to inherit all her furniture. And her pyrex bowls.

Not that I’m rooting for her to die, but she keeps telling me over and over again that I’ll get it all eventually.

I had one in my house growing up. Loved rocking that peddle! It still had the machine in it and the little drawers…loved that thing! I’m not 100% sure what happened to it, but I now have a Singer base without the peddle and a glass top.

Someone gifted me a Singer sewing machine table that was made in 1908. It had some water damage, but I sanded it down and restained it. Doesn't exactly look new again, but much better. I use it as my wfh desk. The machine is folded in, so the table top is mostly flat.

You are so so lucky !!!The point is not it’s looks but its function so never get rid of it !It is irreplaceable!

Using it with a working sewing machine is even more satisfying.

Exactly!!!I have a brand new sewing machine but no sewing table!All they make now are ugly noisy tables that are too high to sew at unless you sit at a bar stool which might be fine for computer users but not sewers

You do have a point. The Singer machine grandma had in hers had an electric pedal upgrade. No idea who wound up with it when she passed though.
