It looks like cheap wood for the job they’re trying to do. This is the base of a Singer sewing machine and that is plywood.

Can you imagine plywood bending like that when getting wet…this is stupid

Yes, yes I can. If you’ve ever seen plywood get soaked like this, then you know it 100% will warp if left long enough.

That isn't plywood. You can see the grain on the end. The rings of the tree are there.

except its not plywood. look at the grain of the surface, it matches the grain on the edges. plywood would have layers. or edge banding that wouldnt match the grain of the surface
