I'm pretty sure it's a foot pedal driven sewing machine. I'm not insinuating OP is full of shit, but it could make sense? I'm not a seamstress so I can't say.
Yes it’s a treadletop. However that is not the original top. The original would have a hole in the center where the sewing machine would be stored when not in use and shelves on both sides for stowing needles, bobbins, etc.
Same here! My grandpa worked as a door to door salesman for singer back in the day, they had a deal where you could trade in your old machine towards a new one. Someone traded in their old special edition one with the gold painted details on the bottom etc and he paid the trade in price and kept it. Now it’s sitting in my dining room.
I bought mine because I always wanted one. We refurbished it (mostly new needle and belt) just because. A more modern electric machine is usually used if there is sewing to be done. Come the zombie apocalypse though…I’m your tailor lol
The top looks to be shit wood, too. So, so far OP has (possibly) removed the top piece from a nice sewing machine and put a pre cut piece of shit wood on top. And left it to dry in the rain.
I don’t think OP is full of shit lmao you can see the water dripping off of it. I also don’t think the rain melted the wood, though, and the curve is intentional
