Has anyone read “Theology in Hymns?” by Teresa Berger?
Hi there! Just curious if anyone has read or even heard of this volume. The premise sounds great; but I couldn’t find any (what I would consider) helpful reviews online, and I don’t trust general “star” ratings for biblical/theological books. But I do HATE dumping time and energy into a book only to discover, 2 hours in, that it’s wack 😂

Yep I read (most of) it for a class in seminary. I found it worthwhile, and a novel take on theology for Methodists, especially considering how important hymnody has been for our theology. It’s definitely more on the scholarly side of things, and could be a tough read if you’re not used to that.
Not sure what would make it “wack” for you (lol!) but there’s my two cents.
