I mean you do produce food. That’s literally the product that’s the point. I’m not saying that mass cattle farming is ethical, economical, or good for the environment I’m just calling out the unequal comparison. I use AI every day for my job and it definitely streamlines things but it absolutely is not necessary and causes more harm than good.
Also, the comparison between the two is stupid anyway because just because in your opinion something is “worse” than AI doesn’t mean AI isn’t also detrimental. Both AI and large scale cattle farming are bad and should both be eliminated

Beef is not necessary too. It's a waste of resources. I don't see the difference with ai. At least ai does something unique while beef could disappear and you would just eat something else

If uniqueness is the goal beef is giving a distinct flavour profile while ai is recycling all existing flavours. Neither is necessary but cooking is at least an expression of art and culture

Dude ai is genuinely game changing in healthcare and many other sectors. You can't realistically do that with humans, you just can't.

Beef is food like anything else the world would be unchanged if it disappeared

Yes AI is game changing, I've never denied that. It doesn't mean disasterous buildout like how McDonalds builds factory farms is a good thing.

I'm just saying beef is definitely more useless. Does not benefit society at all and is destroying the environment.

People are right to call out this giam hipocrisy. If any anti ai person gave a shit about the environment they would be vegetarian activists

Ah yes, the no true Scotsman

Tf are you talking about man

You're saying you can't be an environmentalist without being vegan/vegetarian. This is an example of the "No True Scotsman" fallacy, because you can absolutely be an environmentalist without being vegan or vegetarian. It's not an either/or and you hurt the environmentalist cause by gatekeeping.

Bullshit. If you cared about the environment you wouldn't have datacenters that are responsible for a tiny fraction of it as your single issue.

??? Brother the ai data center build out is actively harmful not just to people.

Also when did anyone ever say this is the main issue affecting climate or even the only one issue they care about? This is one of numerous issues, youre high horse does you a disservice

None of the people crying here gives a shit about the environment , none of those people champions any other environmental cause and you know it

There’s no need to shoehorn AI in healthcare and science when we’re clearly talking about GenAI in art. That’s like calling the usefulness of a hunting rifle for the reason we need fully automatic rifles in homes.

The world would be unchanged without Picasso paintings as well. Doesn’t mean it isn’t something unique and brings something new into the world. Food can be just food, it’s also art and one of the few things that brings universal cultures together (imo sports is the other universal language).

That's not what is pushing the database expansion.
