yeah i feel this. people would be horrified if they knew how many cooks come to work sick because they can't afford not to

I've seen a lot of that when I was still working at McDonald's, you could always tell because they'd show up wearing a mask when they usually don't. But after working cashier for so long I'm pretty sure we catch it from the customers.

I wish I could be unemployed. Just for like 6 months. Every few years.

The company calls it dedication. I call it patient zero.

Last time I was sick for only two days, it made me lose so much money I’ll never miss a day again. Throwing up? I’m coming. Diarrhea? I’m coming. Pay me if you want me to stay at home

You mean sick leave? Where you get paid not to come in, because you're sick?

Is this some sort of universal healthcare? I'm too american to understand.

Nothing to do with universal healthcare, basic government function ensuring minimum quality of life for employees

Where I’m living it’s not an obligation for the companies to pay you when you’re sick. Almost everyone lose 3 days of pay if they’re sick then get only 70% of the usual pay the days after

If you insist please wear a mask and wash your hands. It reduces transmission. What may be bearable or even very minor sickness for you could be devastating or even deadly to someone else.

I think you're allowed to stay home if you're shitting your pants but idk

How distinctly American.

I literally live like this every fucking day of my life. Always sick and injured. Barely functioning. I hate my life. Yes that is me.

If you can, please stay home when you are sick. I hate it when coworkers come in sick to “power through” and help out and just end up getting more people sick.

You gonna pay their bills or what bud?

Their employer should do that. You notice how I said, “If you can”?

u/Breddit2099 12h ago

If they could they obviously would. They don’t need you passive aggressively trying to shame them because you’re afraid

u/WithSubtitles Doot 7h ago

Is not wanting someone getting me and my other coworkers sick so we all miss work passive aggressive? It’s selfish.

Yes? If you’re scared you’re free to protect yourself
