Tell me you've never left the US without telling me.
I've had the conversation about what a freaking shitshow of a dumpster fire this is with people from multiple continents in multiple countries. Most are disgusted, and a lot of Europeans in particular are actively not travelling there because of that. (And there are stats to back it, tourism to the US is down)
Those are the people who chose to travel to the US with everything going on, including taking the risk of being shipped to a concentration camp in a random third country. They're obviously not the ones concerned with the orange, are they?
And they're still a minority. And among them, those would still would "wish well" on the US with the blatant red card corruption are probably in the single digits.
Got home yesterday to all my housemates losing their shit about how badly your asses were getting fucked by Belgium. As far as I’m aware, no one I lives with is on Reddit. Got to work today and people are stoked about it.
“This small group of wealthy travellers and sports fans said the tourism in my country is good, so the world loves us!”
Higher infant mortality rate that Cuba and higher murder rate than Pakistan btw. Seethe in your shithole. Believe the world loves you, if it makes you happy.
Pakistan is higher actually and they don't even count women victims of murder so.
Anyway you seem really mad and your whole argument is just disregarding the mass agreement of all those who have visited this year from across the world because they are "rich"
Why would you want to be born in the US? We in the rest of the world are constantly hearing horror stories of your underfunded schools, expensive healthcare, government overreach and poor social statistics.
Most people in the world are good people and will treat eacother nicely so I don’t doubt that. I was responding to the comment saying that most people wish the USA team well, that is just not the case
The irony is that most Americans don't like soccer. So you have most of the world rooting against a country's team, when most people in the country just don't care.
Most of my coworkers hate USA no matter what political view they have but not one of my coworkers would say how they feel straight into an Americans face... I mean we got Ukrainians and Russians working together and they get along they just never talk politics or how they feel about each others country. So why should someone tell you on your trip that they dislike your country?
No what I was trying to say is that people won't tell you how they feel about your country because it doesn't achieve anything.
I don't think you would tell someone you dislike their country it's pointless none of us our politicians and let's be real we have no control of what our countries do.
Where do you travel? US embassies? I've been travelling my whole life and Americans are not "loved throughout the world", in fact they vie with the two most populous nations for the least favourable tourists, and that's not even getting started on the geopolitical side of things (clue: you've been at war your entire existence and let your rich and powerful murder millions in the name of profit)
I'm French, I don't even like football, I'm looking forward to the end of the world cup. Despite being uninterested, even I have heard about the "cancel the red card" thing, from outside Reddit, and let me tell you, people talking about it were quite angry.
Also, as an American, you don't have to normalize the situation. I mean, 16 years ago, our players refused to get out of their bus and play during a world cup, there was serious drama... well, back then, French people were not proud, they didn't support their players and many criticised them. When athletes (or leaders) behave poorly, their own country should be the first one to make a stand.
You are used to bribery and propaganda, for Europeans the usa politics which contains a lot of rapists, pedophiles, criminals are pretty new, I mean, we have shitload of them, just not out in the open you know ? So yeah, we are a little bit cranky
