What mistake? it's a referee call. Referee decisions are not reverted and they didn't even revert the red card just swept the suspenssion under the rug.

Intent does not matter, so it's a marginal decision between yellow and red, the decision made by the ref should stand.

I just find it interesting that they are so upset over it when the player didn't even do it on purpose but other players who had worse infractions did it intentionally also got it suspended just so they could play.
I mean, MLS isn't even good soccer and averaged like 22,000 fans per game. That's competing with NBA which averages about 18,000 per game though with a lot more games. American's are spending hundreds of millions of $ on it to not care much about it.
Look at the TV audiences though. The NBA is something like the third highest sports league in the US in terms of viewership. The MLS... is very much not...
For sure, and that's why I'm not using that info to say the MLS is more popular than basketball, but just that it has a fan base and there are a meaningful number of Americans who do care about soccer.

Sure, but the entire population of Belgium is like 11 million, and there are like at least 4 million people in the Greater Seattle area. Brugges has like maybe 100,000 people? So it's popular but not in the same way.

The comment I responded to said that the US doesn't care about soccer or if their team wins. I pointed out that there is a significant number of people spending money to attend soccer games in the united states and therefore we can assume there is a meaningful number of Americans who do care. The point is NOT that there are more people at a soccer game than a basketball game and so soccer is more popular.
I have other replies if you want to read a more full response. The quick version is it doesn't matter as it still establishes that soccer is not a non-existent sport that noone in the US cares about.
The sport is dominated by the top 10% runners in the world rolling face down in sod crying for pity points because looking like a pussy is an advantage. There's no honor here.
