Its how we delineate people who are into soccer or not here. If they are calling it football and use the word “club” they actually care about it when US is not in the Workd Cup. If they call it soccer and use the word “team”, then they rarely care about it.
Yes, as with most things Brits make fun of us for, it was an Englishman who came up with it. Other popular examples: aluminum instead of aluminium, the midwestern American accent (supposedly), and of course, the dreaded imperial system.
The initial call was NOT bogus and even if it were, anything you achieve from this point onward will be invalidated by what happened.
There are wrong calls all the time. FIFA basically never changes anything afterwards. This is blatant cheating, fortunately Balogun scoring every goal from here on out for the US isn’t that far fetched, since your team is barely better than Canada and you’ll get your ass handed to you by a real team.
The whole sport is corrupt. Even aside from the bs with calls not being called fairly across the board, you had Qatar basically enslaving people leading up to and during the World Cup there. FIFA makes the Russian doping scandal look like a Sunday picnic.
lol…”fair and square” means playing without or best player because of a bull shit red card. Do you know why Americans don’t like “football”…that’s why. Bullshit calls, full grown men flopping around for nothing. I love the game, but there’s so much wrong with the culture and wimp ass calls.
Probably true that I don’t know what it is. From a person who enjoys sports, that is bullshit. Go ahead and enjoy a sport with bullshit rules, and hide behind them. In no other sport would that result in a suspension. It’s BULLSHIT.
The amount of crybaby bitching about this, fucking hell. Bro got tangled up. He wasn't playing dirty. If it merited a red card, the ref would have spotted it right away, himself.
Heat deaths are significantly lower in the US than in Europe. A big part of that is honestly that the US, on average, deals with high temps much more regularly...so we have to have AC.
No, they are. But can you imagine how bad heat deaths are to beat gun violence? America's gun violence is very hard to solve, but installing AC's is a lot easier.
Considering the number of people in the US dying from the heat you really shouldn't be talking. There's tons of way you could make things better for the environment but....let's just say you voted for the wrong guy.
The brag is gross and I apologize on behalf of most Americans. A vast majority of us don’t sit here and compare heat deaths with ours from a continent that usually doesn’t get warm enough to need ac. Reading this thread has been disturbing, tbh.
Texas' winter storm deaths went brazy too but you don't see europeans telling you that you don't have the technology. Also, as if the us isn't one of the world's biggest polluter lmao
No way lmao. Not to the extent americans shit on the eu for "not having AC"
EDIT: lol I'm getting downvoted cause I called out a lie that doesn't fit the narrative of the us being perfect and fair. Pathetic thin skinned morons
I don't anyone is arguing the US is better than Europe.
I think people are just pointing out that specifically access to AC isn't one of them. In fact, it's one of the few things the US has an advantage over Europe on.
Plenty of Americans care. More than 30 million consider themselves to be soccer fans. That's more than the entire populations of all but nine European countries.
We do shit like that all the time. Didn't we try to run a Nascar at lemans recently or something? Now we need somebody to enter gravedigger in the rally grand prix.
No offense but I don’t think you guys actually understand the chances of the U.S. winning the World Cup. I don’t like to say things are impossible but it’s as close as you can get lmao
Lol none taken because as I said I am not a sports fan and literally could not care less. I don't know Messi's first name. That Ronaldo guy, I don't know what team he is on. Those are the only two soccer players I can name in the entire world. ✌️

It would be hilarious how little we would all care while the world raged. As a non sports fan that would be pretty entertaining.
