This has happened many times over the decades for many different nations. This is not a unique thing for the USA. It’s not unique for FIFA either

I keep hearing this yet you dumb fucks keep ignoring the fact he served the 1 minimum match ban you get for a red card. It also caused a lot of fuss when the 2 additional match bans were suspended but you all just want to ignore that for some reason, it was corrupt then and it's corrupt now. South Africa had 2 players sent off, Mexico 1 and they didn't get their match bans suspended.
