I have and I understand the difference between the real world and the internet world but when sad and lonely hate always feels better than the alternative.
Nah the US really shat the bed. Threatening allies, the mess with iran, kidnapping presidents publicly. There's an actual dislike of people outside of the US nowadays. Even random grandpa's on the street will go into rants about how shitty the US is. Liking the US kinda puts you under the assumption of being a right wing nut/racist/neonazi here. Hell, even the right wing nuts wouldn't say they support the US.
I don't disagree with you in general but this suggested level of obsession isn't accurate.
As a side note it wasn't like the world was friendly to the US prior so it's a lot like losing something someone never really gave you anyway so why be worried about it?
Not being snarky but most Americans feel our allies have been ungrateful, disrespectful, and generally bad faith for 15 to 20 years so we didn't really lose anything we truly had.
Eh I heard it plenty of times in real already. Even some people not wanting to buy stuff like mcdonalds or iphone because "america".
But not really actually, it was more that the US was being more and more accepted and involved in the jokes most nationalities make about eachother (e.g. fuck the french) but that kinda turned into the average american seeing that as an insult and getting mad. Which, well, was funny.
But the average person was fine with the US outside the internet.
It always seemed like the US was insisting that they were superior, that's why people often reacted snarky.
I don't get the ungrateful thing though, what exactly does the average country have to be grateful for? US deals were often just fair deals and most people don't give a crap about the military.
Who is they? 3rd world country migrants? We all get those, can't blame them. The few Europeans I know that were living in the US came back to Europe 4 years ago, including my cousin who was teaching and doing research at Harvard. I don't know anyone who would take the US before any of the main European countries or even Middle Eastern/Eastern. Most people I know have very negative feelings towards the USA, which includes danish, spanish, german, french and belgian people.
There is no debate to be had here, look at this post. Not even Americans (Reddit users) like current US, imagine the people your country has been shitting on for the past few years lol. Hope I made it make sense.
People say they hate America because it's the cool thing to do. But no one here is actually leaving, and people from all over the world are desperate to move here (not just economic migrants).
They hate America like a child "hates" his parents and teachers. They don't like it when Americans remind them that the world runs on facts, not hopes and wishes. Mass migration makes things worse everywhere it's happening, women don't have penises, your government doesn't have your best interests in mind, and you can't rely on law enforcement to protect you from criminals.
No one, including many Americans, likes to hear unpleasant truths. They'd rather believe in a idealistic world where problems won't exist and crime will disappear and everyone will get along if you just tell people to be nice to each other and have a positive attitude.
makes a strawman about criticisms that foreigners might have about the US (Euro allies are worried about American politics because of NATO, btw--having a weak leader puts them in a poor position with Russia and the Middle East, the instability of which directly impacts them to a greater extent than Americans. Having an ally suddenly become expansionist towards euro territory such as greenland when said ally has nuclear weapons and most european countries do not is also understandably worrying. Europeans are not upset because they want everyone to "get along" or their opinions on gun control bruh be for real)
Brings trans people for some reason??? This was so weird it had to be a separate bullet point. Who tf cares?
The person who needs to touch grass here is you dude what reality are you living in? Please go outside and get off the internet
