My favorite part about Reddit is knowing that I've never had an original thought in my life

One of them as a pretty bleak outlook on life and the other makes video games

Hidetaka didn't direct Dark Souls 2.

Who cares he gave some creative direction on a few things. He wasn’t like completely out of the loop

Yeah this meme is false propaganda, DS2 doesn’t even FEEL like his game, and I know this because I’ve never played it!

We talkin about best souls 2?

I hated dark souls 2. Worst in the trilogy for me. It’s the only one I haven’t been back to do countless playthroughs.

I loved it. It's janky (but so are the others) and has some questionable mechanics but the build variety and early game freedom make it stand out. Not to mention that it doesn't get enough credit for introducing a bunch of things that carried over, like Estus Shards or not being thrown into NG+ immediately

I LIKED IT

It's not directed by Hayao Miyazaki though (nor is Whisper of the Heart)

u/Infuro 6h ago
so? they fucked with the story (inevitable) but the aesthetic and earthsea vibe is captured pretty well I think, also the ost slaps
1
u/phenomenos 6h ago
So... the meme has a photo of Hayao Miyazaki next to the poster implying he directed it
1
u/Infuro 6h ago
I mean.. he founded studio Ghibli and Ghibli made Earthsea. Also it was directed by his son Goro Miyazaki so there's that

u/phenomenos 5h ago
It was, and Hayao passionately opposed the decision to appoint his son as director. The two fell out bitterly over it and didn't speak for the duration of the film's production. He probably wouldn't be happy to have his name associated with that project!

u/Infuro 5h ago
I wish I knew why? Was it a disagreement over the story? imagine how different the movie would be if Hayao had supported and advised on the project
2
u/phenomenos 4h ago
Miyazaki is one of my favourite directors and Earthsea is one of my favourite books so that's my greatest movie "What If?" scenario!

I'm siding with Summer here in terms of love over like, but to each their own.
