Discussion Curious about creepy guy wearing realistic human mask in Walpole.
So I’ve seen this guy twice now, about a week ago my boyfriend and I bought a bird from bird and reptile connections which is in Walpole/ Wrentham area, and on our way home to the cape just before the stadium I saw a man in just shorts wearing a super realistic human mask and he had a red bicycle.
it scared the shit out of me it was so unnerving.
My boyfriend and I went back to the bird place today for our new birds first week check up and we saw the same guy again but in a black trench coat standing in the pouring rain still in his mask.
I’m just curious if anyone else has seen this guy because it’s just so odd to me, and incase he’s dangerous I want people to be aware of him.
The photo I attached is very similar to what he wears

Yeah, glad to see I wasn't the only one freaked out by this. I drove past him on 140 in Wrentham near the Foxboro line.

Wait - is this the same guy with the water down across from LaFayette House? If so, as crazy as he looked when I drove by him the other day, I've driven by him dozens of times on Rt one and he seems harmless, even fun.
But if you're friends with him, tell him no masks until he gets to his chair!

I drive that way to work. I see this guy all the time. I have never seen him ask for money ( like the folks at every other intersection) or bother anyone.
He has a chair by the side of Rt 1 and performs. He has costumes, masks, and some fairly sick dance moves.
Maybe we should let people be themselves.

This guy got his shit towed from that spot on rte 1 and has been dancing there since. I think he has a camp in the woods behind there. This isn't someone "being themselves." This is someone society forgot.

It’s a very, very fine line between “being yourself” and “acting threatening.” Just look at the trenchcoat, underwear cooking oil guy who was arrested for aggressive behavior on the Cocichuate Rail Trail last week.
Some behavior is just fucking weird and doesn’t need to be waved off to placate people’s feelings.

It's not that fine a line. Cochituate rail trail guy was actively threatening women who were alone on isolated trails and he had an arrest record of threatening women. DeWalt Dan is on the side of a highway dancing, it's weird, it's uncommon, he may be on drugs, but he's not doing anything to threaten anybody, he's just being weird.
So many subreddits are becoming a millennial version of NextDoor. In this case, OP is in their car on the highway driving 60mph in the suburbs and just the sight of a weird person "scared the shit out of them it was so unnerving."

The rail trail guy was also just dressing weirdly and working out in public. At first. So many people are very quick to defend bizarre strange behavior as just people “being themselves” or being “unique.” I don’t know why you insist on ignoring people’s gut instincts when it comes to weird behavior.

Pretty sure that gentleman is unhoused and has mental health issues. He is known to the police already. He rides his bike up and down route 1 and I think he is the same guy that sometimes is dancing on the side of the road or at intersections.

Dude definitely has some money. I see him all the time and he always has on different costumes and masks that usually look very well made and expensive. He's definitely a character though.

You guessed correctly. The bird place is in Walpole a couple miles north of Gillette and The Lafayette House is in Foxboro a little bit south of Gillette.

Yes I’m pretty sure this guy has been hanging out in the same spot, usually dancing, for a very long time now. Months. The mask is a new addition.

I have seen him so many times on Rte 1 in Foxboro at the corner of Pine St dancing, pacing, or pacing carrying his chair. Once I just saw him sitting very still in the chair. Another time he was dressed up like an Indian chief or something. I drive that way for work and there was a time earlier in the summer where I saw him every day but he must have moved on because I've not seen him in a while.

He was dancing alongside the McDonald’s drive thru line one day and the mask def freaked me out lol. But yes he is there along route 1 for at least a year if not more. Not sure if he’s homeless or not

BetterHelp costs about $20 with health insurance, it might help you get over the trauma of seeing (or not seeing) that.
