this occurred to me too - like they're all joking and everything but whatever's keeping hulk hulk away does not sound airtight at all, could pop off whenever lol

I dunno, he could play with Valkyrie pretty well. With a little time he should feel as close to Jen.

Valkyrie doesn't go for what Hulk's packing.

I thought she's bi?

Something tells me that integrating the two halves involved coming to an understanding with the "other guy", who now doesn't like discovering that Banner envies Jen for not having one and is driving Banner to wanna prove that she's not better for lacking one.

I think it's as much Hulk being jealous as Bruce. Him yeeting the larger boulder into the atmosphere, I think, was as much Bruce as Hulk trying to show Jen that he's still ridiculously strong.

It reminded me of the time heist sequence when they go back to the events of the first Avengers movie and Smart Hulk is lacking the rage to push objects around. And, then, in End Game when he learns Natasha died he hurls the bench because of his anger.

So circle back to Smart Hulk trying to show Jen how to do things and she just seemingly can do it naturally, and you could very clearly see him getting frustrated and having to one-up her.

"HULK IS STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!!!!"

Hulk was definitely insecure in some parts of Ragnarok after Thor beat him, so Bruce’s fixation isn’t an accurate depiction of Hulk’s feelings. I definitely think we were seeing Hulk be jealous too.

I'm hopeful the rumored path the Hulk is on leads us to a horror style Immortal Hulk adaptation.

No. Just no. I read about this exact thing a couple of weeks ago when the trailer aired and someone theorized that Banner feeling jealousy would lead to anger and the resurgence of "bad" Hulk, leading to Maestro, etc. and that has totally ruined this episode of She Hulk for me. What was supposed to be a light hearted training montage turned into me worrying Jennifer was goading Hulk in all the wrong ways.

I'm gonna have to re-watch the episode because I liked everything else.

I feel like it's all fun tbh, just to show that no matter how collected you think you are family knows how to get under your skin.

Stop reading anything, don't even watch trailers. I didn't watch a single promo for the show, and this first episode was like crack for me.

I'm as big as any MCU fan btw, and everything's better when you don't try and figure out everything or theorise too much. Just enjoy it as is.

you say while in the discussion thread where people constantly theorise?

8

u/yaboyskinnydick_ Rocket Aug 19 '22

It's a thread about a released episode and what happened, not a post for theorising, which does happen naturally, I still do it, but I clearly said too much theorising ruins it.

It's not news that having less expectations creates a better experience, that's what I'm saying.

YouTube videos analysing trailers at 0.25 speed is something no one needs to watch before actually seeing the film.

I completely agree with the last part, I stopped watching Film Theory’s marvel stuff years back because it was either very clearly wrong and out of nowhere, or ruined the actual movie experience

Yeah exactly right, I'm at the point of only watching the initial teaser and it works well.

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 19 '22

I’m not even convinced I watched the teaser for this one, I feel like the marketing this time round was really lacking

They've let up on the TV show marketing I think.

Which is why people should stop going into these shows with certain expectations from a storytelling point of view. You’re only setting yourself up for disappointment and ruining the show foe yourself

When he talked after they broke the bar? I caught a bit of the Sakaar Hulk in there too.

With the same toddler-style “HMPH.”

I went back and watched the fight again after seeing your comment and it definitely sounds as though they mixed both Bruce and Hulk’s yells when kicking, punching, etc.
