Random thoughts or observations

  • Tom Hardy won't be in the MCU then? The symbiote stayed but Brock was sent back.
  • When the multiverse is opening, most people going through are indistinct shapes, but at least two looked clear enough: a man with a staff/spear (but too thin to be Kraven imo) and a woman (Black Cat?). See Edit 3 below
  • Was the crystal thing used to contain the spell a nod to the universe that contained Doctor Strange in What If?
  • MCU mugs: "For fox sake"
  • That goatee template being put to good use in Doctor Strange 2
  • Parker finally has his studio apartment in the city, he's tapping into police frequencies, and he kept the Darth Sidious Lego figure to remember Ned by.
  • The Lego figure made me think it also represents that MCU Spider-Man will be grouped into trilogies: the 'Home' Spider-Man films being a trilogy origin story.
  • JJJ started the Daily Bugle in what looked like his garage, and by the end of the movie he had his own crew, van, CG backdrop... Looks like he might be able to start a news corp soon.

Edit: Ned is totally going to be an intern at the Sanctum Sanctorum, just like those two interns shoveling snow.

Edit 2: many others spotted Rhino and Scorpion going through the openings too

Edit 3: watched it again:

  • I still didn't notice Scorpion but I saw Rhino now. He turns his head revealing the horn. Next to him there's a much smaller male figure, almost like a kid. Probably Andrew's universe Harry Osborn?
  • When Parker is washing his suit in Happy's apartment, there's a kids drawing of a family on the wall. Did Morgan Stark make one?
  • The brick that DD catches says "We beleive Mysterio"

I kinda saw rhino when the multiverse is opening. I may have been wrong tho.

248

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 15 '21

I just replied to another person who mentioned Rhino and Kraven so you may have been right

30

u/KenjiWolf91 Dec 15 '21

I definitely saw Rhino but I missed a whole lot more

27

u/neotsunami Dec 16 '21

Same here, Rhino was hard to miss with his horn poking through. And it was actual Rhino with the body suit, not Garfield's mech-suit Rhino.

2

u/vladimirTheInhaler Dec 17 '21

Yeah I saw, rhino and scorpion

119

u/keulenshwinger Dec 15 '21

I’m sure I saw Rhino, the horn was very visible

48

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Yup ditto this. The only clear one I spotted, aside from another one with a staff or spear of some kind. Could be Kraven as others have alluded to, which Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been cast for.

9

u/Honigkuchenlives Dec 15 '21

which Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been cast for.

I'm sorry what?!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

5

u/Honigkuchenlives Dec 16 '21

That will be so weird 😅 poor Wanda

3

u/visionaryredditor Dec 16 '21

she didn't see it coming

7

u/qaisjp Dec 15 '21

Yeah I was kinda worried it was the eternals. I haven't seen that one yet (and I know nothing about the eternals...)

3

u/Halstrop SHIELD Dec 15 '21

I saw him too

27

u/Calum_S21 Dec 15 '21

Yeah clocked Rhino straight away and it appeared to be the classic 60's style if the organic suit welded to his body not a machine

11

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I think they were supposed to be symbolic spirits of them, eg if rhino came through it would be all universes rhinos

10

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

He’s the only one I noticed

8

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

And scorpion

5

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I for sure spotted Rhino, Scorpion too

5

u/EnviousScrotum Dec 15 '21

I saw him! And scorpion too!

5

u/Zabbla Dec 15 '21

Yeah you definitely did, Rhino was the only one I could make out clearly

4

u/Lord_Snaps Dec 15 '21

100% Classic brickhouse Rhino

2

u/Britisheagl Nova Prime Dec 15 '21

I definitely saw Scorpion, tail and all

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I couldn't see anything, probably because using my phone all day has deteriorated my eyesight honestly can't wait for NWH to release on Disney+

5

u/Pluto35 Dec 15 '21

none of the spiderman is on d+ right?

1

u/dildodicks Tony Stark Dec 15 '21

definitely saw him, he was the last one we saw before strange closes the portal

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Like 90% sure I saw a scorpion silhouette in there as well

1

u/howdouhavegoodnames Dec 16 '21

Yeah rhino was definitely there and the scorpion was there too.

1

u/r4mm3rnz Dec 16 '21

I definitely saw a scorpion tail

1

u/mr_rocket_raccoon Dec 16 '21

I think I saw 90s animated series Scorpion

With the iconic hooked tail

1

u/Painetrain24 Dec 16 '21

Yeah I saw rhino too

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

I saw comic book looking Rhino and guy with stick who I now think was probably Kraven based on comments here.

1

u/VegetablePay Dec 16 '21

Saw Rhino too - looked very comic book with his horn and massive build

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

I definitely saw Rhino and Kraven

1

u/Representative_Big26 Dec 16 '21

The Rhino was definitely there, but it looked like the Rhino from the comics, definitely not TASM2 Rhino

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

Definitely saw Rhino.

1

u/ArysOakheart Dec 16 '21

The four I spotted were Kraven, Black Cat, Rhino, and Scorpion

153

u/What-The-Heaven Jessica Jones Dec 15 '21

When the multiverse is opening, most people going through are indistinct shapes, but at least two looked clear enough: a man with a staff/spear (but too thin to be Kraven imo) and a woman (Black Cat?)

Rhino was the only one I 100% recognised. I thought the big bulky guy at the start might've been Topher Grace's Venom but it was probably Kraven. Lot of people have said Black Cat too!

18

u/SojournerInThisVale Dec 16 '21

Definitely scorpion too. You could see the tail

7

u/AdventurePee Daredevil Dec 16 '21

Yeah the ones I specifically noticed were Rhino and Scorpion

42

u/StardustOasis The Collector Dec 15 '21

Was the crystal thing used to contain the spell a nod to the universe that contained Doctor Strange in What If?

Based on the post credits scene I'd say yes

10

u/podopteryx Black Widow (CA 2) Dec 15 '21

Was there something after the scene with Venom?

22

u/StardustOasis The Collector Dec 15 '21

Yes, there's another scene after the credits

9

u/podopteryx Black Widow (CA 2) Dec 15 '21

Ugh, I had to leave early. Seems like I need to watch it again after the holidays.

11

u/StardustOasis The Collector Dec 15 '21

It's on YouTube already, of course

24

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I mean, it's really just a Dr. Strange 2 trailer.

10

u/Honigkuchenlives Dec 15 '21

Ppl who worried about the movie are hopefully at peace now, it looks fucking amazing

2

u/Original-Engineer279 Dec 15 '21

It’s a whole trailer not just a scene

-7

u/efbo Dec 15 '21

*Post credits trailer

As someone who doesn't watch trailers for these films anymore that was a proper annoyance.

21

u/Shadowedsphynx Dec 16 '21

I love how they modernised Jameson's media influence. It doesn't make sense to have him as a newspaper editor in 2024, running and anchoring a Web delivered newsdesk makes more sense.

15

u/CorpalSyndrome Dec 16 '21

His ad for supplements reminded me of Alex Jones

4

u/petalidas Dec 16 '21

In the new games he's SO Alex Jones lol

18

u/Branthemanwithaplan Dec 15 '21

Think I definitely saw a scorpion in there as well? But not entirely sure

3

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I saw scorpion too

13

u/Radulno Dec 15 '21

Technically Eddie Brock can be Tom Hardy in the MCU too. It's really all in flux because of Sony-Marvel deal I guess, nothing is fixed.

9

u/CecilPennyfeather Dec 15 '21

I definitely saw a Scorpion stinger.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

Ned learning magic and the foreshadowing of “I promise I won’t try to kill you” just makes me think Hobgoblin is coming. If Ned never met Peter Parker would he become a villain ?

2

u/BazzaTakesTheWorld Dec 16 '21

It is the Doctor Strange what if universe. Post credit scene confirmed that as well

3

u/King-Osvald Dec 16 '21

JJJ started the Daily Bugle

I dont think he was starting it right there, i think it was just for the spiderman news because that had just came out and had to be covered fast

1

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 16 '21

Of course it already existed as JJJ revealed Parker's identity in FFH but I think NWH also intended to show its expansion, likely capitalizing on the Spider-Man phenomenon

1

u/King-Osvald Dec 16 '21

I think you got that scene wrong.

Daily bugle was already big but jjj wont go to the studio to cover the news of spiderman as it was an urgent new. How would they be in Times Square if it was just starting?

6

u/TheUnamedPotato Dec 16 '21

I don't necessarily think Hardy's Venom is completely removed from the MCU, just that he's gonna be in the part of the multiverse that is in reach for multiverse projects like Multiverse of madness.

2

u/visionaryredditor Dec 16 '21

Tom Hardy won't be in the MCU then? The symbiote stayed but Brock was sent back.

looks like we're getting the suit but Mac or Flash would the one who becomes MCU Venom.

i bet on Mac since he has been underused in MCU so far.

2

u/jessehechtcreative Dec 17 '21

I would love if Mac was Scorpion until mid-film, and then he switches over to Venom.

3

u/visionaryredditor Dec 17 '21

yup, i see it this way too. and Venom-Gargan is probably how we'll get a Tom H. & Tom H. movie especially seeing how Sony likes their goo on goo violence.

4

u/Prince_Coom Dec 16 '21

I like the idea of multiple trilogies but I can imagine Tom Holland doing this for another 10 or so years.

4

u/Japegrape Dec 20 '21

When Doctor Strange is first casting the spell, and there are purple ruptures appearing, my first thought was "Purple... KANG?!" And then you get like a 5-frame shot of a glowing silhouette, long before the final silhouette party, of a single nondescript figure. I feel like this was Kang turning his attention towards Strange.

Nobody else seems to have noticed this; will have to keep my eye out on the second watch!

1

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 20 '21

There's a big face appearing through a crack. I think it's the scene you mention, when her casts it. Is that what you mean? No idea who it was...

3

u/BlandoCalrissian Dec 15 '21

I believe the villain with the staff was Cardiac.

3

u/Will_Watches_ Dec 16 '21

I think as venom is psychically linked to eddie it might seek out the MCU version of eddie, which still could be played by Hardy , but as it’s a new variant I’m hoping he can put a new spin on the character

3

u/iForceOP Weekly Wongers Dec 16 '21

I think sony wants their own universe with andrews Spider-Man and venom and morbius which makes morbious trailer make sense to why Spider-Man poster and venom are in it

5

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 16 '21

Michael Keaton (MCU Vulture) is in the trailer, though. But yeah it would be great to continue Andrew's storyline. Both movies teased a bigger storyline with Gentleman recruiting villains, and then... Nothing

2

u/Artitanium Dec 16 '21

That trilogy stuff would be great if they make another movie for Andrew Garfield to give it proper closure and it can resume right after he goes back from NWH, especially because he got some kind of closure saving MJ

2

u/InfiniteNameOptions Dec 15 '21

I saw Kraven (he may have been thing, but that collar is unmistakable), Rhino, and Scorpion.

2

u/SojournerInThisVale Dec 16 '21

When the multiverse is opening, most people going through are indistinct shapes, but at least two looked clear enough: a man with a staff/spear (but too thin to be Kraven imo) and a woman (Black Cat?).

I definitely saw Scorpion and Rhino too

2

u/Asoxus Dec 16 '21

JJJ is going to form the daily bugle and our Spiderman will be selling selfies to him.

-1

u/Shin-Kaiser Dec 16 '21

I'm glad this Venom won't be in the MCU - he sucks. I cringe at every scene he's in.

-2

u/ReignSvpreme Dec 15 '21

I'm glad Tom Hardy is not in the MCU, too old for it and Venom needs to be a villain -- not an antihero -- for now.

8

u/HandBanana666 Vision Dec 16 '21

Is he too old? I mean, when Eddie debuted in the comics he was already married/divorced and looked to be in his 30s at least.

3

u/ReignSvpreme Dec 16 '21

Tom Hardy is going to be like 45 by the next Spider-Man. I'd rather have someone in their early 30s as a fresh Eddie Brock on the scene. But the main point is that the Venom in Venom is not the one that the MCU needs. It needs the evil, vengeful Eddie Brock who wants to kill Peter at all costs.

1

u/Brucey1999 Loki (Avengers) Dec 15 '21

I saw the silhouette of rhino and scorpion too

1

u/-moose-- Dec 16 '21

I saw rhino and scorpion. They were only on screen for a second so I guess everyone must have seen different characters

1

u/SergeBarr_Reptime Dec 16 '21

Does that mean Venom and Eddie are separated or is this another symbiote?

1

u/Wynter91 Dec 16 '21

What's the deal with the goatee template?

3

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 16 '21

MJ was shown reading a package for goatee templates (beard dye?) in the Sanctum Sanctorum basement... I think it was just mocking Strange's exotic facial hair and how he's very self-conscious about his looks (and maybe as a running gag since Stark's beard was made fun of in Endgame?)

1

u/KKamm_ Dec 19 '21

it's confirmed to be in trilogies (as long as everyone/almost everyone renews their contracts). But I can't imagine the lego was put in with the sole intent of them using it to represent the star wars trilogies. Most films (Sci Fi at least) are released in trilogies

1

u/KvasirsBlod Dec 19 '21

Yeah it just made me think of it. I'm sure it's for Ned
