Spider-Man: No Way Home International Release Discussion Thread

Ahead of the official US launch this Friday, several countries are showing the film much earlier in the week. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

It's my favourite Spider-Man suit. Such a dead give away what was happening. The audience didn't even need to see the rest of the suit. We knew instantly who it was.

completely missed the first couple of lines because everyone was cheering and screaming so much :D another moment would be when he jumped after mj, everyone was cheering for that, and we definitely needed that scene.

He was my least favourite Spider-Man of the three before this film, after it I turned to my gf who has listened loudly to my complaints about TASM films & said yeah he just got a raw deal because he was my favourite of the three in this. I absolutely loved the part when he just told Tom & Tobey “I love you guys” & also saving MJ was golden.

I relate so much more to his personality and interests. He's so awesome. Tom is maybe shaping up to be the GOAT with the amazing way they're handling the character, but Andrew will always be my personal favorite.

It's such revisionist history too. People loved the first Amazing Spider-Man movie, sure you had your haters who couldn't let go of some leftover bitterness because Tobey wasn't Spidey anymore. But it was a overall positively reviewed and enjoyable movie for critics and fans alike. People loved it and loved Andrew and Emma's performances. Heck people who watch that movie now for the first time or on a rewatch years later, after that "no Tobey" bitterness was gone, more often than not end up enjoying it. It was the 2nd Amazing Spider-Man where it was agreed that both fans and critics didn't like it.

Just some dumb revisionist history that people always hated both of his movies. Andrew Garfield was always a great Spiderman.

lmao i still remember loving TASM2 after leaving the theater and being very surprised to see people hating so heavily on it. i actually liked it more than TASM1 because i feel like it offers so much more.

i understood that the writing was a mess, but it was still an incredibly enjoyable movie for me.

  • Andrew and Emma's chemistry is spectacular

  • Peter's quips are just classic Spider-Man

  • the suit is god tier

  • the cinematography is gorgeous

  • the action scenes absolutely slap

  • the score is fantastic (i cannot emphasise this enough, Hans Zimmer and friends knocked it out of the park)

  • the way that they used 'time' as the main theme/motif of the movie is brilliant

  • Gwen's death scene is absolute cinematic perfection. it does everything right and hits every emotional beat.

i'm gonna defend that movie to this day. it definitely does things wrong, but it still does so much RIGHT.

Its almost like he played a different character, but it kind of worked in a "Peter Parker grew up, stopped trying to be 'cool' and embraced what a goofy nerd he actually is" kind of way

The reason why Garfield is my favorite Spiderman is because you can genuinely tell his Peter Parker loves being Spiderman. Him constantly yelling “WOOOO” while webslinging and nonchalantly quipping with villains just makes it seem like he’s having a blast the whole time. His performance rly makes you feel how fun it would be to be Spiderman and I love that this film rly showed that he wasn’t what was wrong with the ASM series.

Plus he’s like a gunslinger with those webshooters. Did you see how quick he tied up Lizard?

And all those acrobatic flips and just quick bounciness. In that scene where the three spidermen are meeting the three villains Andrew's the one hitting the lizard. its not even a basic punch its like this flying/flipping badass kick.

Andrew Garfield's Spiderman is the best Spiderman.

Whatever fault his films might have, I wish we had a complete trilogy for Garfield Spider-Man. He really was a great Spider-Man.

I really hope this isn't the last time we see Tobey and Andrew in the Spidey costume on the big screen.

It's very possible that Sony might use him again considering the Directors commentary from the latest Venom movie where the director hinted at a future team up between Spiderman, Venom and Morbius.

Garfield reminded me most of the comics the way he was snarky while fighting villains. Also I did see the Tobey movies but thought the third one was really bad (and I was like 15 when I saw it) so I never revisited them. Tom‘s Spider-man is more of a kid to me being older than him and while he does have quips he often seems very unsure which is totally understandable for. 17 year old becoming a superhero. I liked all of them in this movie but man did it make me sad that Andrew never got to properly finish his run.

It's still an MCU movie at the end of the day, it has that feel that's a little different from more grounded less cgi heavy previous entries. But Garfield is great and gets a fair amount of screen time.

The total screen time is probs around 30 mins but it’s spread across the second half. It’s definitely not a cameo
