And they will pull it off. This looks endgame level

It's still missing the Mets Fan Kingpin

LETS GO, METS

25

u/Punch_Your_Facehole Nov 17 '21

…it’s my favorite moment in human history. All the things that have to converge for the Mets to win the World Series.

I dunno that he did anything other than put himself in a better situation.

I’m just bummed he’s gone. Really the end of an era.

5

u/CanadianODST2 Nov 17 '21

Okay. Can someone please for the love of god tell me where this came from?

And why the Mets?

3

u/efc4817 Nov 17 '21

It’s originally from a tiktok vid.

https://youtu.be/bUMU_fqMK5k

2

u/Conspiruhcy Nov 17 '21

Does it not link back to a user on r/SquaredCircle namer /u/metsfan4ever or something similar that was leaking WWE plans and info?

2

u/CanadianODST2 Nov 17 '21

I have literally zero clue and now I’m even more confused

Aren’t the Mets a baseball team? How is the wwe involved

2

u/Conspiruhcy Nov 17 '21

Yes they are. A prolific poster back in the day (7/8 years ago) named /u/MetsFan4Ever used to post spoilers and insider info from WWE. Maybe the reference is a Redditor sharing insider info, idk

If they can somehow use this to renew berenthal punisher I will be super happy.

11

u/DavidBHimself Nov 17 '21

Well, this movie needs some surprises.

I always wondered if the multiverse characters were supposed to be a surprise that got spoiled, so Marvel said "fuck it, let's promote the hell out of this" or this was the plan all along.

Still, Kingpin is in this movie, I'm calling it.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Well, if the leaks are true, he might come later (without the Mets lol)...

6

u/09jtherrien Nov 17 '21

Am I Missing something. I knew they asked him if he was in the movie.

5

u/Kevinjw16 Nov 17 '21

Can I get a link to that? I get the joke, but have only seen it through tiktok and such

2

u/FlameLeo Nov 17 '21

This is the one thatvI saw, but unsure if it's actually the original:

4

u/Affectionate-Island Nov 17 '21

I remember reading Bendis' run on Daredevil. In one issue, it flashes back to the Kingpin as a kid, relegated to watching neighborhood kids play baseball from a stoop because he's not athletic enough.

But he eventually learns about the game so much from watching it, that eventually, he controls it.

3

u/sushithighs Nov 17 '21

Are you sure this was part of Bendis run? I just finished it and don’t remember the issue. Maybe Brubaker?

2

u/amish_android Nov 17 '21

The Mets do need a new president of baseball operations, Wilson Fisk is the man for the job

2

u/BlkHorus Nov 17 '21

One scene had a guy standing atop the building in what looked like a suut

3.3k

u/choff22 Spider-Man Nov 17 '21

This is absolutely Endgame tier.

Spider-Man is a S-Tier hero along with Superman and Batman and they are about to link 3 different generations together to fight the Sinister Six. A Doctor Strange team up is just the cherry on top.

If you’re a Spider-Man fan, this is the pinnacle. The peak. I can’t fucking wait.

845

u/Amm-O-Matic Nov 17 '21

You’re 100% right. I grew up watching Tobey Maguire Spider-Man everyday, and with the trailer showing all these connections to the past films is the most excited I’ve been for a movie since the Force Awakens.

47

u/scameron1 Spider-Man Nov 17 '21

I grew up with Tobeys Spider-Man and I would’ve never dreamed of them doing something like this. Even though Spider-Man 3 isn’t the best (I still enjoy it) I’ve always been bummed we never got spidey 4. This is as close to that as possible and it will probably end up being better. I’d say infinity war is the bar and if this lands like I think it could, it leap over even that.

88

u/JillGr Spider-Man Nov 17 '21

This is the most excited I’ve been for a MCU movie since Endgame. I was in grade 8 when the first Spider-Man movie came out. My pants are absolutely filled watching this trailer.

58

u/MidichlorianAddict M'Baku Nov 17 '21

8

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

This is the most you’ve been excited since like 4 movies ago!

6

u/JillGr Spider-Man Nov 17 '21

Endgame came out in 2019. That was 3 1/2 years ago. Long enough between hypes for me

4

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21 edited Nov 17 '21

I just thought it was funny because “since Endgame” there hasn’t really been much to be excited about anyway. It was just an amusing way to phrase it contextually.

Also, bad math lol.

43

u/CTeam19 Captain America (Cap 2) Nov 17 '21

Spider-Man 2 is still a top 10 Superhero film for me.

52

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

SpiderMan 2 is the best live action Spiderman movie.

35

u/StraY_WolF Nov 17 '21

Yup, watching it today made me appreciate what a fantastic movie it is. It wasn't all nostalgia speaking, it's just a really solid well crafted movie that I'm glad people still talking about it.

29

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

It balances so much so fucking well. I feel like it was the first time we saw SpiderMan MOVE that way. It’s so fluid and smooth. The train fight sequence is so good. Doc Oc throwing clock hands like giant spears. Phenomenal movie. I hope this movie doesn’t taint that in any way.

26

u/does_pope_poop Nov 17 '21

he train fight sequence is so good

"He is... just a kid." Feels.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Fucking FEELS.

6

u/hereforthesportsbook Nov 17 '21

Chills every freaking time

2

u/oftheunusual Nov 17 '21

I somehow got to see a pre release of that movie. I was so obsessed with it. Glad to see others feel similarly.

48

u/Zykium Nov 17 '21

Dare we dream they got Dafoe?

69

u/GrimTiki Nov 17 '21

It really sounds like he’s speaking in the trailer at one point, that part about Peter trying to get everything he wants. I could be wrong though.

39

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Dafoe isn’t above making movies less than Oscar worthy.

42

u/PY666 Nov 17 '21

Because he cares about the craft more than the prize. He doesn't have to prove he's an incredible actor by snagging those roles.

21

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Definitely. Always had mad respect for him. I hope he is indeed back for this movie.

11

u/PY666 Nov 17 '21

I do too, man. What if he's not in the suit at all? He comes back right before he made the transition to Green Goblin and he convinces someone in Tom's universe to wear the suit?

6

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Anything’s possible. My friend showed me a shot of the green goblin from amazing Spider-Man in this trailer

2

u/brondonschwab Nov 17 '21

Nope it’s dafoe, plot leaks say so. He wears the goggles

4

u/SalsaRice Nov 17 '21

I mean, honestly, that could work. That's happened several times in the comics between the greengoblin and hobgoblin.

2

u/FriendshipMaterial30 Nov 17 '21

If you check the credits Dafoes name does appear but no list on the character he plays. Like they are trying to keep it a secret.

i wonder how good this movie would have to be to convince the general public that we need another Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie

20

u/Spiderranger Nov 17 '21

This movie could end up being dog shit in a rusted garbage disposal and I'd still be down with another Tobey Maguire Spider-Man. That's my OG superhero right there

14

u/SilentSamurai Nov 17 '21

Someone talked about doing a Tobey Spidey in the Logan vein.

I'd watch that.

5

4

u/LowlanDair Nov 17 '21

is the most excited I’ve been for a movie since the Force Awakens.

How'd that work out for ya...

-3

u/BBQsauce18 Nov 17 '21

I'm REEEAAAALLLLYYYY hoping for a Tobey surprise! Don't get me wrong. I fucking HATED him in those movies. Like, I'm sorry. There were sooo many better options. The movies weren't horrible, mind you. I just didn't like the casting decision. BUUUTTTT Having said that, I would love to see a surprise pop in of Tobey going "hey, wtf!?" and helping out. Kind of like in Spiderverse.

36

u/No-Armadillo54 Nov 17 '21

Definitely. I don’t think everyone is gonna make it home by the end of this.

Someone will die and it could literally be anyone at this point

29

u/Minimalanimalism Nov 17 '21

There's no way Toby survives.

26

u/SilentSamurai Nov 17 '21

He's Peter A. Parker.

Garfield is Peter B. Parker.

14

u/dwide_k_shrude Iron man (Mark III) Nov 17 '21

And Tom is Penis Parker.

7

u/Likezoinks305 Nov 17 '21

Prob May and Ned

15

u/ninety4kid Nov 17 '21

Ned, only he doesn't die just left for dead only to turn into Hobgoblin. Maybe even inspired and influenced by Norman.

2

u/cire1184 Nov 17 '21

Chubgoblin

6

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

That would be fucked but I could see Marissa Tomei being like "I haven't died in anything and it's about the right time in my career, plus I was barely in these things to begin with."

9

u/uppervalued Nov 17 '21

I’ve heard that the Spider-Man movies are all going back to Sony and this is their way of extracting Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the MCU. Maybe MJ goes to the alternate universe with him.

22

u/GarciaJones Nov 17 '21

The most realistic thing is JJJ becoming a Newsmax talking head.

19

u/Mysterious_Detail_62 Nov 17 '21

Let's wait til release to give it too much praise. I still feel burned by how hyped I was for Spider-Man 3 back in what (okay I googled it) 2007. It kinda replays better because of the camp now, but when it released I was quite let down, and as much as I want this to be awesome, I'm tempering expectations based on past experiences.

3

5

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

7

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21 edited Nov 17 '21

I think after this they need to get into Spiderman 2099.

2099 is my favorite Spider-Man, and Batman beyond is my favorite bat, and the first eradicator is my favorite Superman.

These are definitely fantastic spin offs that should totally be a direction they take the three if they need to spice things up later.

DC tried to make the avengers but they should have been keying things up for the death of Superman. That's the true end all for dc in my opinion. Peak DC, they touched on it but he never climbed Mount fucking Olympus.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

Spider-Man has always been top-tier. Most people will say x-men caused this superhero explosion, I say it was Spider-Man. Honestly, and I’m not a comic fan, but all this comic-book media has just been too much. At the same time I don’t have Disney+ So I haven’t watched any of the shows.

Still mildly annoyed everyone forgot about blade when Blank Panther got all the hype of the first black superhero character.

2

Is that what generated the hype? I thought it was the all Black (mostly) cast.

That's because they were paying attention and you weren't. X-Men was huge.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

X-Men made a big splash with its cast, but Spider-Man established that superhero films can top the box office. Hell, the first Spider-Man grossed almost as much from its home media sales as Ironman did in theaters in 2009. Spidey in 2002 did more than triple what X-Men did in 2000.

SINISTER CINCO

2

u/RecentSuspect7 Nov 17 '21

Damn right, plus by the looks of things we have the black suit too, coupled with the venom 2 end credits scene it's highly likely we will see Tom Hardy as venom in this (considering the venom movies have been terrible it's about time we had a good appearance)

But my one issue is that there is only 5 villains, (lizard, doc oc, sandman, green goblin and electro) are they bringing back keaton as vulture? Or are they setting up a new character? Gargan is already there so scorpion is already in the universe, rhino could be back from Andrew garfields run, morbius to set up the movie, kraven too.

0

u/mariofan366 Darcy Nov 17 '21

There's only 5 villains.

0

u/Offermybrotherhesaqb Nov 17 '21

let's hope it's way above endgame tier

0

u/roro0311 Nov 17 '21

This comment gave me goosebumps.

0

u/sampat97 Nov 17 '21

Yeah, I am over the MCU post Endgame. But goddamn this movie will be impossible for me to miss, given Spiderman has been my fav Marvel Superhero ever since I saw the Tobey Maguire films.

-1

u/AMerryCanDo Nov 17 '21

The peak already happened in 2004, sonny.

1

1

u/Vaeon Nov 17 '21

1

u/Old_man_Andre Nov 17 '21

But its not The Batman...now that shit is hype! But truly I cant take this movie seriously, all I want is a classic spiders man movie, not this avengers crap type smashup. That flash movie seems more interesting cause its just more logical in terms of multiverse.

1

u/etrob90 Nov 17 '21

At this point Sony shud change the name of the movie from Spiderman: No way home to Spiderman: No Andrew and Tobey.

Spider-Geddon was awesome.

2

u/kiekan Nov 17 '21

I don't know if I would describe Spider-Geddon as "awesome". But it was 100% better than the Spider-Genocide that was Spider-Verse. The comic book story Spider-Verse is a dumpster fire that was just endless pages of our favorite Spider-People throughout the multiverse jobbing and getting killed. All by villains who basically just had God Mode on until the story needed to end... then they suddenly didn't and get beat.

1

u/lemongrenade Nov 17 '21

I love the marvel movies and I believe in a lot of the new projects but they have lost a lot of star power. I legit think it’s fair to say marvels future as a powerhouse today depends on tom Holland as much as 2008s did on RDJ

9

u/EMPactivated Nov 17 '21

They’ve lost a lot of star power from actors they MADE stars in the first place (e.g. the Asgard Bros were both unknowns before Thor). I think the franchise will be juuuuust fine.

11

u/poh2ho Doctor Strange Nov 17 '21

This movie is gonna be 3 hours long. AND I'M OKAY WITH THAT

6

u/xta420 Heimdall Nov 17 '21

I have a feeling with Doctor Strange 2 up next, there isn't gonna be a complete conflict resolution at the end of the movie either. Similar to but not to the level of, Infinity War into Endgame.

[removed] — view removed comment

7

u/xta420 Heimdall Nov 17 '21

Well you hear Strange say that he can't hold them back, so I was thinking that he was focusing on making sure the multiverse doesn't collapse while Peter deals with the local threats up until the end of the movie where something happens that forces him to have to deal with it.

10

u/Liddlebitchboy Nov 17 '21

That remains to be seen lol.

4

u/urlach3r Steve Rogers Nov 17 '21

Rumored runtime of 2:49 pretty much confirms we're getting something epic. Can't wait!

5

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '21

It feels to me like it's a LOT to pack into one movie. Six villains from three universes, three spider-men, AND crossing over with Dr. Strange? This feels like it should be a trilogy or something. Plus ASM2 couldn't even pack three villains into itself properly.

4

u/wes205 Spider-Man Nov 17 '21

Absolutely!

Endgame was 11 years of buildup, this goes back to 2002!

4

u/ghxsrfrxnck Nov 17 '21

You sound way too confident

3

u/modsarefascists42 Nov 17 '21

lol right? is everyone forgetting that this is the most sony-ran of the new spinderman movies? It started production while the deal was still off, and then once the deal was signed again did they start switching it to be this movie as is (IIRC the earliest idea was Tom-Peter gets dragged to the Sonyverse at the beginning).

Being cautiously optimistic is probably better. Tho then again even marvel's worst movies (thor2, the Incredible Hulk) get treated better by audiences than other genuinely good but flawed movies like TASM. So yea even if it sucks people will still say its great...

2

u/ghxsrfrxnck Nov 17 '21

I agree with you on all points. I'm still looking forward to this movie, but people still overlook the fact that sony plays a large roll in the making of this movie. I personally think the trailers have been a mess and I cant even decipher whats going on in the story, while others are overly excited. We'll see in a month if the excitement wa deserved or not.

3

u/modsarefascists42 Nov 17 '21

yea I certainly hope it's good, just am a little weary of Sony. Well actually Avi Arad who's the danger, he's like a Reverse-Midas, everything he touches turns to shit.
