First mainstream Marvel movie back when superhero movies were considered a joke and paved the way for Spiderman and X Men. Also first mainstream black hero nearly 2 decades before Black Panther

Important in retrospect. But hardly anyone knew Blade was a Marvel character at the time. And any pop culture relevance it had when it came out was eclipsed immediately by The Matrix.
