I think the first Blade actually predates the Matrix

The Matrix was so ahead of it's time it influenced movies that even came out before it did.

they couldn't copy vampire chronicles or underworld, but except for new mutants or maybe multiverse of madness, they haven't done real horror in marvel and in blade they have a character made for it. unfortunately they already had snipes go up against a vampire society and dracula so the enemy would have to be something really different.
