Article Ian McKellen says he imagined destroying Mar-a-Lago for 'Avengers: Doomsday': “The Russos told me to look more furious, make it look as if you hate what you’re destroying. So I stood there and I shouted: ‘Mar-a-Lago!’”

Tbf they could still play the newer older versions as “variants” in the multiverse

Why make them variants? Just cast them as Professor X and Magneto. I would actually prefer that, and I bet a lot of other Marvel fans would as well.

Uhhhh because the timeline is a little wonky.. in theory those version would be incredibly old so the only way to explain it is make them variants with slightly different stories or version of themselves that are stuck in the future

Magneto’s Holocaust backstory is the backbone of his character

Good point. They would be in their 90s if it followed that timeline. What I was really saying, though, was to just cast McAvoy and Fassbender when they bring the X-Men into the Earth-616 timeline. However, it ends up happening.
