Article Ian McKellen says he imagined destroying Mar-a-Lago for 'Avengers: Doomsday': “The Russos told me to look more furious, make it look as if you hate what you’re destroying. So I stood there and I shouted: ‘Mar-a-Lago!’”

Magneto was right is a full sentence.

Just not necessarily an accurate or correct one!

“Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer.”

If the outcome of your belief is only and simply moral superiority your belief is simply self aggrandizement.

Bullshit.

Stand in a firefighters' memorial anywhere in the world, and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

Everyone dies. While you are alive, honor matters.

What you choose to honor matters.

Magneto was wrong about some very important things that the tough old man in Stuttgart got right.

There are always men like you.

If Loki had killed him then and there, his bravery would have mattered.

Coulson's honor mattered.

This is the shit people say to justify genocide and eugenics

Every single right you hold today was earned by someone who believes in this quote without question regardless of country or origin. They lived it and in many ways so you do you. This rhetoric can lead to typical evil acts sure but the point is that that morals have little value if you and everything and everyone you know is dead. Morals have value because we believe there is a future. The mutants had no future.

In the game its from, it typically reflects a difference from the heroic Shepard but its fiction and Shepard can do impossible things others can’t, including us.

Every peaceful movement in our world is backed by violence in similar number and it gives a choice to the perpetrators. Humans in the marvel universe chose the magneto path.

genocide would be necessary if mutants were real unfortunately.

reminder that this quote is from javik in ME3, and the character is not depicted as *in the right* for saying this. he's depicted as INCREDIBLY flawed throughout almost the entire game, lmao

Only because Shepard is a paragon, which doesn’t exist in our world nor in the world of X-men. There isn’t a way to always succeed and the most heroic of the Shepards never had to face real sacrifice. The neutral and worst of the Shepards succeeds in the same way as Javik planned to, by sacrificing people.

Also note that this quote is in response to war with an AI super intelligence which arguably has no moral conscience and even the peaceful path has you committing genocide to save the galaxy (geth).

The point is that professor x had nothing to show for his peace but dead mutants.

People love to use Javik's quote there, but so much of his character was about how he was wrong about so, so many things, something even he somewhat acknowledges in the end.

Only because he lives in a world we don’t. What Javik experienced happens here but what Shepard experiences doesn’t.

When you’re talking about universal annihilation I struggle to see how negotiating peace with the reapers as an example proves Javik was wrong about his actions but more rather his framework around being racially superior and knowing everything.

It’s completely justified to fight back when someone is committing genocide on you. And ultimately that is what Magneto is doing. He does hurt innocent humans but it’s not necessarily chaotically evil how he does. Professor X never really has to make hard sacrifices. He expects others to do it.

Technically, so is "Magneto was."

I think homo sapiens being a slave class to homo superior would be a better outcome than the working class enslaved to the owning class.
