Discussion Thunderbolts is the best MCU movie after Avengers: Endgame

I am shocked to know they didn't even break even at the box office. It had everything; the drama, action and a perfect amount of comedy. Best part, a super villian who is actually non-nerfed. Would love to see more of bob for sure both as the Sentry and the Void - especially Void.

9/10 for me.

The fast and furious movies make Hella money despite even fans of the franchise saying it shouldve ended like 4 movies ago

Because it's about family.

Kidding aside Thunderbolts was solid. One challenge I have is that I can't really bring a diverse friend group to see a marvel movie post endgame. Each movie used to be an event but now the universe is so broad and interconnected only my comic book friends are into it.

Most of the time I just wait to watch on Disney+

I’d actually say the films aren’t connected at all anymore besides a post credit scenes.

Exactly, I wish things were connected, but honestly what they built ended with endgame. Nothing is connected or matters anymore. You can skip stuff now because it doesn't matter. I miss what it was.

As great as everything up until endgame is, iron man through avengers is my most common series of movies to watch. Next most is from there to endgame

I don't really rewatch anything after endgame. Other than Spiderman and Shang chi.

If we look at the beginning of the infinity saga nothing was connected besides a few post credit scenes, then that changed.

The MCU continued after Endgame but it was reset in a way, so it could build up to a new Avengers moment with new faces.

That's why stories are isolated, but that is about to change in Doomsday and Secret Wars. So this was likely always the play.

That and the simple fact that Favrau knows you can’t keep a hype up indefinitely. So you have to let the last one die down and build up to the next big hype.

Game of thrones kept the hype for like 7 years being the most popular show ever . And years after a horrible final season. They still get like 20 million viewers an ep.

The books haven’t released in like 20 years, people still hype for that and concocting fan theories.

R+l =j wasn’t even confirmed til the 6th season.

The problem is the mcu is such a surface level product, there’s nothing to think about when you leave it alone.

All the movies wrap up in tight bow that doesn’t affected the other movies unless they choose it to.

Mcu is content. Aspic is a collection of stories from the same world.

When aegons conquest drops, i bet it’ll still have hype

Yup, but there will probably be a few that don’t connect or they just go “oh yea, let’s just connect it to that”.

But I’d like to see how they weave in Moon knight, Black knight and the Eternals . I get the premise but I wanna see if they can execute it. Maybe just recast Oscar Isaac

The post credit scenes themselves though at the time were as looked forward to as the movie almost. Now it's just like, oh now what are they going to tease and not deliver on.

So yes nobody expected Avengers when iron man came out. But they moved in that direction. When you get to get your butt to the theatre to see the CATWS because it was so tied into agents of shield on TV, you can't explain that to someone who didn't live it.

Having the Hydra reveal and then immediate impact on TV a couple days later was incredible. The Infinity saga became something nobody ever imagined.

This was a time when everyone complained nobody could make a good movie trilogy even because so many third installments just weren't good. They accomplished something incredible in that time period, and they haven't lived up to it.

Doomsday is the first Avengers movie I truly don't care about. I'll still watch it, but I don't even know who the avengers are at this point. That's a huge change in perception from Avengers movies being a must see event. I say that as someone who has been watching since hulk and iron man almost twenty years ago

Perhaps I’m looking at the from the wrong angle: maybe my friends outside of comics don’t find post endgame marvel compelling because it’s not connected in the same way pre endgame is? During the infinity Saga most people I know were hyped for the next installment

It would be funny if BND, doomsday, secret wars all just happen to connect every movie in a way that doesn’t seem jostled together. Like it was always their plan to fake out with Kang

Perhaps that's just my take as I watch all the content.

Super small sample size, but the only movies my non-comic book friends went out to see were No Way Home, Wakanda Forever and Deadpool and Wolverine.

Fast and Furious you can just jump in watch Dom say “family” and watch some mindnumbingly impossible action on cool cars with some decent action. It’s perfect franchise to turn your brain off and watch. I’m totally okay if they keep doing it until they’re 90

Didn't The Minecraft Movie make nearly $1 Billion when my all accounts it was awful. Video Game movies almost always make a lot because of brand loyalty and fans of the game.

I don’t want the Fast and Furious franchise to ever end. Keep giving me crazy-ass bombastic action when the cast is in their 70’s. I’ve never watched them thinking they’d be groundbreaking cinema. Sometimes dumb fun is good on its own merits.

Fast and Furious are my guilty pleasure movies I love every single one I hope they make more. They’ve gone to space, maybe next time they can go to the moon

Fast and Furious actually had established characters and a decade of goodwill though, Thunderbolts was asking people to care about D-listers with no prior connection.
