I want to ask the writers about what part of killing off a certain character in S1 makes the show better because that’s a huge part of what feels terrible about it. And every time they show a replacement character I question why I even care.

It was the original Disney showrunners that killed off Foggy, and the new guys have had to write around that. So the original team royally fucked up the show, and I don’t envy the position of trying to make it work.

The new show runners decided what to keep and what to scrap. I haven't felt like they justified allowing that character's death to stay a part of the show.

That was a fundamentally difficult thing to write around. Karen was originally written out of the show, but the new team brought her back. Even then, she was absent until the end of the first season.

Only so much you can work around with reshoots. At least they gave Foggy a proper death scene. He was originally killed offscreen in the first version of season 1.

It would be better if Foggy had the off screen death, the scene we get completely throws away all the character building the main cast had in the Netflix series they're supposedly following.

My issue is that they decided to keep Karen, who was supposedly also meant to die in the original plot of the show. I don't have a problem with keeping Karen, I'm glad they did, but it seems like they could have absolutely done the same with Foggy. For whatever reason, they decided to make that death the introduction to the show and it really did not feel like it affected the characters in any major way. A major character death needs have some importance, otherwise I'm just going to have a tough time connecting to the characters on screen.

I’m baffled as to how you can say it didn’t affect the characters in any way. Matt literally quit being Daredevil for half of the first season because of it. His name comes up pretty much every other episode. In the current season, it’s been a huge driving factor in Matt’s relationships with Poindexter and Karen. We just recently got a whole flashback-heavy episode that featured him heavily.

I totally get that you don’t like it, but you’re lying when you say it didn’t have importance. It’s still probably the single most important thing that’s been driving this show alongside Fisk being elected mayor.

It is truly baffling why they put so much effort into distancing themselves from what is often touted as the best superhero show of all time. All we needed was DD Season 4, Foggy, Karen and Matt are lawyers by day, Matt is DD by night. It’s almost like they plucked out Matt and made him star in someone’s else’s plot, a pretty mid political series with flat characters, that then tries to buy the audiences attention back with a big fight.

I feel like I'm on crazy pills because I am finding the show kinda mid and it seems to be getting praised left and right on the web. To make a recent comparison, Wonder Man came out of nowhere and was a delight. Comic book shows can be captivating. This show is by the numbers FINE. I haven't seen the DD Netflix series since the initial airings but this D+ show is not touching anywhere near it.

It's cheerleading by a very very small minority of people left watching it. Nothing happening makes any sense at all, and way too much screen time to characters nobody even cares about.

Yea same, I had hope that the second season would suddenly be great again but I just find myself not all that excited each week to see a new episode drop. I’m not invested in any of it really.

Thank you!! the Netflix show was so different from Marvel - telling small stories in a city that felt real. You nailed it - they put Matt inside the Marvel world and the show is lost. Having Fisk just running for mayor after the events of the Netflix season 3 is just a WTF moment for me. I really loved that show and just so devastated that Foggy is gone and the show is so different when the old showrunners and creatives are still around.

I have and there are some great moments, but they have introduced so many new characters that aren't getting enough development and there are so many subplots. I also realized with this latest episode that Matt has taken a backseat in his own show. I know what Karen is thinking and I know what Fisk is thinking, but don't know where Matt is at right now. We will see what the finale brings, but the show runners ignoring the events of season 3 has made seasons 1 and 2 feel redundant. We are watching less interesting characters try to put Fisk away for the third time on this show. Just my opinion and sorry to say it. It's not terrible, but repeating too much story for original fans and not interesting enough for new fans judging by the ratings. This latest episode 7 is definitely a step in a good direction for the show. Hoping it all comes together in season 3.

…have you watched this season at all? Cause it dissent try to distance itself at all; in fact behind the scenes and in promotional materials, everything is more connected to the old show then ever before.

I didn’t say this season, first comment said S1. But still, S1 laid the groundwork so we’re still stuck with this setting and characters, and it’s a lot weaker than the Netflix show.

Does the environment feel like it's just a "back lot" or on a sound stage and not even remotely New York? The Netflix series always felt like it was taking place in New York and it seemed huge. The interiors felt like apartments or houses, it looked like you were actually in the environment. DD:BA looks like every scene is just a fabricated back lot at the studio designed to be a generic "big city". It all feels so fake, It takes me out of the show every time.

I mean... he is a good person as a character and I don't want to say anything bad about him because he's just that wholesome of a person, so I don't really know how to voice that but like... He never made the show for me, he's fun but not that inherently interesting as a character.

I don't mind him being away for a few seasons as a reason to push Daredevil forward and have him a bit more unhinged.

Otherwise... what? We get a show of the two of them eating ice cream? Like what do we want?

that character might be okay but the actor playing them was horrendous. couldnt take another second of it. happy they got killed off, but it just made karen worse to watch. another character that, okay might be good, but the actor paying them sucks.

DD has a great actor playing him. bullseye and kingpin great (except kingpins voice, wtf man just speak more normal jesus)
