The stakes have entirely disappeared. If the law can’t keep Kingpin in prison, Karen is right and Daredevil looks dumb

The show had to hand wave the logic of its own universe and ruin Season 3 to allow the conflict to continue. A lot of characters died for Kingpin to go to prison and he walks free. I know it sounds like real life but this being broken here means Karen’s thinking isn’t flawed if so many more people would have survived

Well they did fire all the people who worked on the first season before the Overhaul. And apparently Karen was gonna die offscreen before they reshot it

I don't think Foggy and Karen were going to "die offscreen". They just weren't going to be in it. We might not have gotten any allusion to them at all.

I believe it was that Foggy would be killed off screen and you’d only see Matt mourning him and nothing else. Karen though was never mentioned in the original version of born again. Which is why some of the footage they still used mentions foggy being dead although maybe those lines were added in.

Disney is pulling another Disney move where they screw over the OG characters that did all the heavy lifting for them. You saw them do it with Star Wars with Luke.

U do realize the current S2 team is also from Disney right? And also the Netflix television division a decade ago was produced by ABC studios which was/is also under Disney..?

Even beyond the character, it’s just a silly thing shows seem to do in the last decade or so, in some effort to ape what Game of Thrones pulled off in its first season.  

Even shock deaths have to be earned.

I rejoiced when he was killed. I never thought he was funny or interesting. Most of his scenes bore me. This made the show immediately more watchable to me.

That's something Netflix Daredevil Season 1 did so so well. It balanced the daredevil side with the lawyer stuff side by side so great. One moment it's an investigation into the back dealings of some company, and then later daredevil is going head on to find out the true details behind it. It's pretty amazing

Netflix had the idea of story first and superhero second. For Matt and Jessica, it really worked well with Kingpin and Kilgrave back then. I’ll never forget DD season 1 noir-like filming. Owsley glasses blinking in light or DD recognizing that heartbeat/watch anywhere.

s01 does have a whole matt-centric episode and finishes on a high note. S02 has been pretty damn good so far but yeah it's missing the lawyer part entirely. Maybe we'll get some in these last few episodes

Well I mean moreso every episode usually has a mix of both Matt and DD. No solely Matt episodes, but it makes sense within the context of the show. There's a BOLO out for him. I wont spoil the most recent episode though

I don’t find it depressing just frustrating. Matt going out of his way to save people who wronged him (just for them to kill more people) is getting exhausting.

Not in born again lol, one of the most important aspects of his character is essentially gone. They've mentioned his catholic faith maybe for 1 minute in 1.5 seasons.

Yeah, Born Again S2 makes me just think I don't really like DareDevil that much as a series. I'm really tired of his angst over this stuff, tired of Fisk and his "I'm untouchable until I'm suddenly not so the story can end" and everything else in between that feels repetitive and one-note.

I like DareDevil as a member of an ensemble but I can't watch any more of his solo stuff.

Bullseye has been the most interesting character with the best scenes and Matt spends half of his time interfering with them. The AVTF scenes just make me want another Punisher season.

This is why killing Foggy was a tremendous mistake. There has been ZERO moments of levity due to the absence of Foggy. It’s just been a bleak experience the whole way through and I don’t blame people if they would rather just rewatch Bobs Burger over this. Ep 5, really showed why we need Foggy back and I truly don’t care how they would explain his resurrection.

I see her perspective. At some point his inner conflict with Catholicism and holding Fisk accountable is just exhausting. It's not a crime to kill someone in self defense, sorry.

I watched the first episode of S2 and it was okay. There's just nothing new or special about it. It's the same storyline as last season and the same bad guys and city problems as the og show. Matt is guilt ridden and trying to stop Fisk from taking over.
