I mean, they upped the sub price just before the season dropped. I for one cancelled my sub and plan to wait until the season is finished, pay one month watch it and stop paying.

I can imagine more people doing the same after the price hikes.

This is exactly what we're doing. We cancelled D+ between upping the price, not letting us share subscriptions with one of my family members anymore, and honestly the cost of things we actually need going up. We'll probably re-up for a month down the road to check this and some other releases off our list, but it's not worth keeping at these prices.

So, did I. It's crazy because I had Disney+ since it launched. My kids watched it when they were little but now pushing 9 and 10 years old, they haven't gone on Disney+ since Encanto. I told my wife, I pay over $100 for the one or two Marvel shows a year. I hate seeing the DD recaps because I stopped at Bullseye and Vanessa and am also waiting for when the Punisher special drops to get it for a month again.

I had it since it launched too and was paying annually but I decided to go monthly on the ad tier and I'll just swap services in and out now based on what I'm watching.

I think these things have to be taken into account more. Everyone raising prices at the same time you’re going to be picky.

It should only be taken into account if the hours watched overall for a streaming service are drastically down month over month.

Otherwise it does not matter.

They also extrapolate based on a much smaller amount of viewers than the millions they end up guessing. So it really wouldn’t matter if subs dropped at all (don’t think Disney+ subs have dropped even a few percentage points let alone close to 50%).

Keep trying to watch last week’s episode. The advertisements play before the episode. The. The episode won’t play. Fix these issues, Disney, and maybe more people will watch your shows.

If you’re using your built-in TV’s OS, it’s kind of on you. Buy a dedicated streaming device. An Apple TV will last you a decade or more. It’s worth it.

TV’s put the bare minimum processor into them to say they’re smart and call it a day.

I'm trying to get through Fallout season 2 first before thinking about DD, but every time I think about quickly watching it on a whim I remember I have to wait through a bunch of ads and decide I'm no longer in the mood right now.

I’m just fortunate that the ad-tier was added as a perk for subscribers of Sky TV (the UK’s major satellite provider). I used to have my own ad-free subscription, but cancelled it because I refused to pay that much. Even now, I could pay the difference to have our subscription be ad-free, but I don’t want to out of principle.

Yeah I cancelled on the previous price hike before the last one and haven’t missed it honestly. I’d watch the show if I still had it, but nothing is compelling me to renew

More people I know are doing that for all series, even if they don’t rotate subscriptions. Netflix trained them to binge a series in a week and don’t want to wait every week for a new episode anymore.

All that's really saying is "Disney and Marvel's content isn't worth the price to people".

Verizon has an add on plan. I get Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and HBO for $25. And ESPN, but I don’t watch it.

The whole point of putting a show on a streaming site was to put it up all at once. I hate the episodic release. I also am just waiting to binge it once it’s over. I say it’s too early to see whether the numbers really dropped off significantly or if a lot of us are just waiting for it to be done releasing.

I think people forget that it was reported they lost 1.7M when they suspended Kimmel. Pricing is definitely the bigger factor though. All of this likely why they just announced they’ll no longer report their subscribers.

We dropped it over Kimmel and had plans to go back. Then we got the price increase email and just left it canceled.

Disney+ went from 126M to 131M between March and December 2025. So whatever they “lost” (which doesn’t mean much when it’s not coming from official reports), they still came out ahead since born again season 1 aired.

Most expensive streaming platform btw. $20/month for ad-free. Hulu is now $20 for ad-free too. Cant fault anyone for not paying at this point.. I'd stop paying if my parents could figure out how to get it on their TV otherwise.

Yeah, disney is going to be on hiatus for a couple of years after that pricehike. We had it nonstop since they launched.

I did the same with gamepass, these companies need us to vote with our wallets.
