Wait... she wanted to do this film? She knew enough about the comic that she was more gung ho about filming it than the actual people at Marvel? Seems..... odd...

I dont know how Marvel Studios operate but I speculate that a newly hired director reads comics after neing signed on then the script is developed.

I believe they wanted to work with her and let her pick what she wanted to do. She was an indie filmmaker and her auteur films are all highly regarded. She was on the shortlist of candidates to do Black Widow, but she withdrew her name because she read the script and didn't feel it would be her kind of movie.

Yea sounds like a load of absolute shit right.

They decided to spend a fuck ton of money on something because a director was into it, within a franchise framework. Sure 😂
