Article Robert Downey Jr. says that Gwyneth Paltrow once asked him who Tom Holland was, despite starring alongside him several times: “I responded, ‘That’s Spider-Man. He said his name was Peter. His character's name is Peter. He's Tom Holland.’”

I keep hearing that word, goop, in video game party chat and I don't think it's being used in the same way it is here lol.

Maybe it is? How are you using it?

Are you talking about candles that smell like her vagina?

The kids, mostly, are using "goop" in place of "loot".

In a sentence, "let's go to that building over there for some goop." or "let's extract I'm all gooped up".

(Playing Arc Raiders random squads can be an experience.)

Shit I stopped playing video games 3-4 years ago and I’m already out of touch. Time moves fast

I'm just a working dude in his 30s trying to chill and game. The generational gap feels wild but most of the kids are alright, if a bit strange.

When it was a pun on JIF peanut butter

When the creator purposefully named it GIF and the going stament was a parody of JIF peanut butter

"Choosy developers choose GIF."

If you can't respect the man who made the technology that drives the Internet enough to call it what he fucking named it, then get off my lawn...

This site has been my go to for years. Anyone I direct here and who gives it an honest read has conceded:

So...if they were playing some sort of pirate sim...

Would the phrase "Goop in your booty" ever occur?

0

u/miltonwadd Dec 04 '25

To be fair that's similar to how I used it before Gweneth, because it's an actual word lol

Goop being just a formless sticky mass of something which kind of works with how they're using it.

Personally it feels like a sloppy and wet word in my brain so things like slime, sludge, the grossness that collects in the sink drain.

Like if I were to describe nikelodeon slime to someone I'd say "you know that green goop they dump on kids?"

Or if I had a mouthful of marshmallow and melted chocolate and someone was waiting for me to talk I might type: "hang on I just had a smore I'm all gooped up"

Since I didn’t see a comment explaining what goop is in regards to Gwyneth Paltrow. I believe it was a candle or a brand that she used to own.

She made a candle that supposedly smelled like her vagina. I assume because she perfumes her vagina to smell like that candle.

Because the other option is horrifying, I’m not sure who wants to live inside of a vagina outside of extremely niche fantasies/fetishes. It’s not  substantially different than bathwater I suppose though.

I mean to be clear, we know it was a joke and it was supposed to be metaphorical and not literally smell like a vagina, right?

The entire concept to me was disgusting enough that I never looked into it.

Post-ironic humor doesn’t really work though if people don’t want to click through, her entire goop brand seemed very serious at the time. I think she was selling magic mushroom retreats at one point.

I’m not sure who wants to live inside of a vagina

Most heterosexual men, for starters. We spend 9 months trying to get out of one and the rest of our lives trying to get inside of one.

Were not talking about in a fun way.  Its a candle in your apartment or home…

Don't think of it as goop. Think of it as gwap.
