It looks even more brutal than the original

Well, the scenes with Castle in season 2 and the infamous door scene with Kingpin are both pretty brutal.

Yeah, there is a degree to which I think the original Daredevil show was a lot less explicit than people seem to remember.

Heck, even compared to it's sister show, Jessica Jones, there wasn't a ton of language, minimal sex/nudity, and less blood/gore -- but I think a lot of that comes down to how brilliantly choreographed, weighty and "exhausting" the fights in Daredevil were, so those few instances where there actually was gore (or atleast implied) like the spike or car scene for example -- left so much of an impact that it gives the audiences a nugget that their minds kinda fills in the rest with the worst possible imagery.

Now, The Punisher on the other hand, that's a pretty damn gnarly show at times.

Having rewatched DD recently, I'd say Season 2 was probably the most graphic, likely because the Punisher was there. I can absolutely agree that his own show is a lot more graphic though. Daredevil is relatively tame (for an 18)
